Messi doing false nine basically multiple roles is an example. If you suck at one you make up with other. Today Messi lost possession on coutnless occasions. But he more than made up with those crosses. Strikers like Mbappe, Haaland, kane have to score or else nothing else to do. When they don't score they would look ordinary. Harry Kane does a little more than what he is assigned for. Haaland was literally strolling most of the match. When there was an opportunity his team mate didn't serve him which effectively made him an useless entity. Edited July 15 by vvvslaxman Sgattick10 1
Sandz Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Rooting for Argentina but won’t mind Spain winning at all. If Argentina go on to win again Messi will be forever immortalised and stand atop all legendary footballers. Not many players have won one World Cup let alone 2, I could only think of Ronaldo in the last 50 years but he didn’t actually play any match in 1994. New guy, GoldenSun and Sgattick10 2 1

It was just a moment of time when messi made that perfect pass/cross. Pundits on TV are saying sometimes it seemed they were not protecting the penalty box but the 6 yard box!!! The Hound 1
IndianRenegade Posted July 15 Posted July 15 How many spirit of the game, sh!t of the game ppl will condemn Argentina now? Maybe they will because it's against the English. But much of the west is full of sh!t when lecture others about it.

The Realist Posted July 15 Posted July 15 Tuchel is a poor man's Gambhir Highly paid but plays crap football with zero trophies adi B 1
MechEng Posted July 16 Posted July 16 (edited) @IndianRenegade @Gollum if we ignore the general conduct or sportsmanship that is preferred during any sport and not only football, then Argentina would be a likeable side to me purely on the basis of ability. That first goal from Fernandez was superb and it justifies how good they are. What I strongly dislike about them is their antics. I do not expect them to follow Japan level gentlemanly behaviour, but you and I know what antics these folks have been pulling off recently. Play hard and play aggressive, but there is a limit to everything, Argentina makes even Mashrafe Mortaza or those Nidahas cobra dancing jokers look more sportsmanly. I am again not expecting any Victroian era level spirit of the game stuff, but you get my point. I had no problem with Argentina, until the 2022 Fifa final. The below the belt stuff from Emiliano Martinez against Mbappe after winning put me off big time. Especially given how Mbappe brough France back into the game heroically in the last minute. Play hard and tough for sure, but personally for me - I do not like any compromise on sportsmanship beyond a certain degree. Edited July 16 by MechEng diga and Gollum 1 1

Not sure if this was about the spat Bellingham and Messi had during the match, which and raised Argentina to score 2 goals. England was also involved in delaying tactics after the first goal from Argentina, to arrest the momentum. I’m so glad England lost, commiserations @Austin 3:!6 @Lone Wolf Argentinians hate to lose to England, ever since they lost the Falkland Islands war Edited July 16 by coffee_rules Lone Wolf 1

You can’t ask for more!! In reality this Argentine team is mediocre...or poor....played weaker teams with lots of questionabke refereeing decisions...were second best against England until the English coach *ed up . Spain and france are at different level...if Spain scores first..I expect a 3-0 or 4-1 score ..if Argentina score first...they will also drop deep like england and lose 2-1 or 3-2 or go to penalties or extra time. There is simply a gulf in quality between the two teams...but Argentina has guts and team spirit ..so they will fight like hell and maybe if they do not concede first they have a chance.
coffee_rules Posted July 16 Posted July 16 It was Argentinian real physical game, some fans only select Argentinian fouls, even England players had committed a lot of goals, which were ignore. Preparing was bad for both sides. Sandz 1

Spain and Portugal also play like this and teach their kids to play this way or go down easily to win fouls, committ sneaky momentum disrupting fouls which can stop just short of a booking, wind the opposition up if you think they have a hothead etc.

Will arg cheat their way to wc glory? Yes, it is happening, bro. The only America’s team in the last 8 has reached the final. Argentina might pull an upset against Spain in the final too. 1994 was settled on PSO. Expect that on this Sunday. So was 2022 as well

South American Way has always been about individual brilliance, dribbling, and long passes. It’s always fun to watch football that way. Europe is killing the sport. The physical game from South American teams is only limited to Uruguay , Paraguay, Mexico and other less talented Teams, not Argentina or Brazil. Europe has already killed field hockey, Pizza, such boring play, let it not spoil football too. but collectively, what is hurting the sport is simulation and diving. It is ugly to watch people dropping like Flies and acting like they have been Fouled. Ronaldiho of Brazil had perfected that art back in 2002. Less talented players do that. Questionable decisions because sore bitter losers threw a fit after losing and twitter and social media lied and then people who dont follow football except for world cup bought into it People who actually know football and saw replays know every decision was correct Also, you guys have been making the same prediction every match and claiming Argentina never played stronger teams and predicting their loss every match. Every single match your comment is copy pasted. Thats the best part, Argentina shoving it each match into you guys faces
Austin 3:!6 Posted July 16 Author Posted July 16 Tuchel should be sacked by such defensive tactics. You cannot sit back and defend with just 1-0 up against a team like Argentina with 35 mins to go. Very upsetting this loss. Another semi final loss....ugh Sgattick10 1

England sent 4 defensive players in lol As someone posted on twitter if you allow them to hit 10000 times at the goal they are bound to score 1 or 2. Austin 3:!6 1
