Our fielding standard has gone to the dogs. Probably hit rock bottom.  Hopefully we will get a better fielding coach.

I don't think the fielding coach is the main cause of the decline in standards as this is a skill that is not learnt after a player gets to this level. It is mainly a team increasingly made up of fundamentaly unathletic players who have come up through the ranks where fielding is an unimportant aspect of their role. Players like Bumrah, Siraj etc continue to be very poor fielders as they just havent focussed on that throughout their career. Add to that the diets and lifestyle that ensures most Indian players that approach 30 start showing pot-bellied physiques.

Our fielding is near associate level or even worse. Unless players are held accountable for their shitshows, benched or even dropped from the squads, they will never improve.
