Fla. man accused of killing wife; posted photo on Facebook SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida man who authorities say fatally shot his wife — and apparently then posted a photo of her body on Facebook — was charged with first-degree murder Thursday night after turning himself in. Miami-Dade police said in an arrest affidavit that Derek Medina, 31, said he shot Jennifer Alfonso, 26, at their South Miami home after she said she was "leaving him." When officers responded to the home, they found Alfonso's body, as well as her 10-year-old daughter, who was unharmed. According to the affidavit, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Medina said the couple became involved in a heated argument in an upstairs bedroom when he armed himself with a gun and pointed it at her. He said Alfonso left the bedroom, returning later to say she was leaving him. He says he went downstairs and confronted her in the kitchen, when she began punching him. He claims he went back upstairs to get his gun and confronted her again, at which time she grabbed a knife. Medina said he was able to disarm her and put the knife in a drawer, but that when she began punching him again, he shot her several times, the affidavit says. A post on a Facebook page identified as Medina's said at 11:11 .a.m. Thursday, "Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news." The post claimed that his wife was punching him and that he wasn't going to stand any more abuse. However, YouTube videos linked to his Facebook page earlier this week show him working out in a martial arts studio, punching and kicking a heavy bag. S. She looked like she had fallen backward, with her legs bent to her sides and blood on her left arm and left cheek. The photo was up for more than five hours before Facebook removed the page late Thursday afternoon. A Facebook spokeswoman said in an email to The Associated Press that she couldn't comment on a law enforcement investigation but could provide a general comment from the company. "The content was reported to us," the spokeswoman wrote. "We took action on the profile — removing the content and disabling the profile, and we reached out to law enforcement. We take action on all content that violates our terms, which are clearly laid out on our site." Police declined comment on the Facebook posts. Public records show that Medina and Alfonso first married in January 2010, divorced in February 2012 and then remarried three months later. Change your baby's name Messiah, it belongs to Jesus Christ: US judge A judge in the southern US state of Tennessee has ordered parents who named their son Messiah to change it. "The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ," Judge Lu Ann Ballew said in the ruling last week, according to the newspaper The Tennessean. The parents of the seven-month-old boy had gone to court because they could not decide what the child's last name would be —the father's or the mother's. The judge ordered that the child go by the last names of both, and along the way surprised everyone by ordering the first name be changed as well — to Martin. The mother, Jaleesa Martin, is appealing. She said she and the father had not named the baby Messiah for religious reasons but rather because they liked the way it sounded. The judge said it was the first time she ordered a name change. Ballew said this was better for the boy because the name Messiah might offend people in a county with many Christians. "It could put him at odds with a lot of people," the judge said, according to the newspaper. Martin said she was shocked by the judge's order. "I never intended on naming my son Messiah because it means God and I didn't think a judge could make me change my baby's name because of her religious beliefs," she was quoted as saying .................................................. Beijing: A Chinese zoo's supposed "African lion" was exposed as a fraud when the dog used as a substitute started barking. The zoo in the People's Park of Luohe, in the central province of Henan, replaced exotic exhibits with common species, according to the state-run Beijing Youth Daily. It quoted a customer surnamed Liu who wanted to show her son the different sounds animals made -- but he pointed out that the animal in the cage labelled "African lion" was barking. :laugh: The beast was in fact a Tibetan mastiff -- a large and long-haired breed of dog. "The zoo is absolutely cheating us," the paper quoted Liu, who was charged 15 yuan ($2.45) for the ticket, as saying. "They are trying to disguise the dogs as lions." Three other species housed incorrectly included two coypu rodents in a snake's cage, a white fox in a leopard's den, and another dog in a wolf pen. The chief of the park's animal department, Liu Suya, told the paper that while it does have a lion, it had been taken to a breeding facility and the dog -- which belonged to an employee -- had been temporarily housed in the zoo over safety concerns. Users of China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo service mocked the zoo. "This is not funny at all. It's sad for both the zoo and the animals," said one. "They should at least use a husky to pretend to be a wolf," said another.

The bizarre headgear - consisting of two A4 sheets of plain white writing paper attached by paperclips to a headband :laugh: - was worn by nearly 100 students on Wednesday during a textile exam. It was the brainchild of a professor at one of Bangkok's most famous universities who was concerned that his small exam room would encourage plagiarism. But a photograph posted on Facebook of the students sporting the blinkers - which they made and customised themselves - during the exam at Kasetsart University, had by Friday stirred ridicule from the Thai press and social media.

According to the office of the director general of police, the incident occurred in Dudwa area where pet dog of a local, Dharam Singh, excreted outside neighbour Yogendra's house. It led to heated arguments between the two families. The verbal duel snowballed into a pitched battle with the two sides attacking each other with knives and firing from fire arms.

Basically, banishment rooms are departments where companies transfer surplus employees and give them menial or useless tasks or even nothing to do until they become depressed or disheartened enough to quit on their own, thus not getting full benefits, unlike if they were actually let go

Man elopes with mother of fiancee CHENNAI: The Pallikaranai police are looking for a 25-year-old man who allegedly eloped with the mother of the woman he was to marry later this month. The construction worker, who often visited the house of his fiancee after the engagement, got attracted to the older woman and the two began a relationship that culminated in their running away, police said. Parthasarathy, a native of Tindivanam who lived in Kovilambakkam near Pallikaranai, got engaged to an 18-year-old woman in the same area about two months ago. The girl's father Sekar, 38, and mother Vasantha, 35, were construction labourers working in the locality and got to know of Parthasarathy and the match was fixed. Soon, Parthasarathy became a frequent visitor to his fiancee's house and began mingling closely with all her family members. Vasantha was apparently taken in by his good behaviour and he began to present her with gifts, police said. They gradually became close to one another. Vasantha often skipped work and stayed at home and Parthasarathy came to meet her. A few days ago, Vasantha's daughter allegedly found the two of them together in an intimate position, investigators said. That evening, soon after Sekar returned from work, the girl told him about it. A day after the incident, Vasantha went missing. A subsequent check revealed that Parthasarathy was also missing.
