vvvslaxman Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 All the other moronic umpires bar Alim Dar have to take a lesson from this dude. He got all 3 dead right. Guys like Harper should be ashamed and retire.
IKnowU Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Harper is alright, and so is Steve Davies. But the top two are Dar and Taufel.
Cricket Tragic Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Dar screwed up badly in the 2007 WC final when he didn't know the bloody rules. Taufel was very good today!
Clarke Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Human radar, if there was one I still cannot believe how could he tell those lbws were spot on, it looked like pitching outside leg and the batsmen were off their toes in both cases.
urbestfriend Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 He is the tendulkar of umpires :two_thumbs_up:
ganeshran Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Dar and Rauf are decent umpires. Ian Gould gets mostly right too. Its Harper and Asoka de silva who suck bigtime
Lord Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Human radar, if there was one I still cannot believe how could he tell those lbws were spot on, it looked like pitching outside leg and the batsmen were off their toes in both cases. yeah I'm pretty sure Afridi wouldnt have reviewed it if he gave Sehwag not out
Prakat Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 We should have Amish Saheba and Asoka de silva :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:
ganeshran Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 We should have Amish Saheba and Asoka de silva Or Bucknor
rajmarie Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Dar & Taufel are the umpires for the final. The 2 best ICC umpires in the world & in this WC also. Gould & David are the 3rd & 4th umpire. Both are also good.
Ram Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Taufel is the Bradman of umpiring. He’s definitely a freak who stands head and shoulders among his peers. Its one thing to get the odd close decision right (pretty much anyone can do that), but the unbelievable regularity with which he routinely gets 50-50 decisions spot on is staggering. I genuinely hope someone from the ICC is watching him in action and taking notes because he offers the perfect blueprint of what goes into making a good umpire. He’s young, fit and healthy (apparently, he gets up every morning and runs many miles on the treadmill). This is so important because, contrary to public perception, umpiring is a pretty tiring and strenuous job. Its not an easy matter to stand 7 hours at a stretch, sometimes in sapping condition and yet preserve mental alert levels that are required to make split second decisions that an umpire makes. It beggars belief that ICC had someone like Steve Bucnor, who was only a couple of birthday candle blows away from getting into the Guinness book of world records for being the oldest man alive, on the field making umpiring decisions. Hopefully, somebody from the ICC reaches out to Taufel and seeks his services to maybe train and mentor upcoming umpires, before they’re promoted to the elite panel.
VRV Singh Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hats off to him Pwning UDRS like it's nothing.. On this form it wouldn't have surprised me if he had spotted the Sachin lbw missing :hatsoff:
Cricketics Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 It would be nice to discuss cricket with someone like Simon Taufell. One who is that good in his umpiring, would surely be one of the best in terms of discussing and having knowledge of cricket. I am sure he would cherish watching guys like Tendulkar bat in front of him, everytime India plays in front of him. This dude has the perhaps the best knowledge of the game, which perhaps some of commies who have played cricket for their country like Botham and co won't have.
singhprakash72 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Will miss my favorite umpire aSHOCKer DeSilva .... :((....he would have made the final interesting but of course SL was in final
coffee_rules Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldcup2011/content/current/story/508857.html It will be Dar and Taufel in the final.
