A disgrace to say the least. And I do think it favoritism to keep Zimbabwe around for their member nation vote. Why not add two more teams as 'qualifiers'? Makes no sense.

There's no doubt about that. But this needs to happen before Eng steals more Irish.
That is the problem. Eng will never support Ireland Test status....because if Ireland gets the Test status...Morgan might decided to leave Eng & join his home country Ireland. Now imagine Eng batting strenght without Morgan in the middle. :hysterical:

I hope u r right....2015 WC no matter whatever the format...needs to be exciting like 2011 WC. 2011 WC was made exciting by Ireland & to some extent Ned. BD were all out twice for less then 100 in this WC. Lets not even talk abt Zim. WI made to QF...thanks to that egoist umpire Ashoka de Silva who didnt even corrected his umpire mistake when referrel told him he is wrong. If not for that Ashoka...Ireland was in QF...with WI knocked out. ICC feeled that in 2015..they cant take that chance...& shut the door on Ireland. This will also strenghted Eng team..because now they can easily get the 3-4 best Ireland player in their team....:hatsoff:
I agree with you. I believe the Irish captain William Porterfield complained about that incident and in return was fined by ICC for speaking up. ICC are run by thugs in suits.

Qualifier, LMAO :hysterical: The ICC ain't touching the 3rd largest cricketing nation. But there should be a qualifier for every one except the hosting nations.
Bingo! This is the reason ICC decided not to let the bottom ranked teams go through a qualification round. India, Pakistan and now Bangladesh being one of the largest cricketing nation (fan base to media coverage to you name it, this 3 countries are all about cricket) ICC doesn't want to take the risk. I think the reason they pushed back the inclusion of the associates to 2019 is because ICC is hoping that your team's rank will be higher by 2015 so that they won't have to go through a qualification when 2019 WC comes. And since BD is getting a free ride along with WI, why leave ZIM out right? I guess they will revive ZIM's test status soon and then their statement about full nations will be justified despite IRE ranking is above ZIM. POLITICS ... POLITICS and POLITICS!!! BTW i like your idea about everyone should qualify. I think it should be like this the hosting nation and cup holder from previous WC (am not trying to be biased here just because INDIA has the cup) gets the free ticket and rest has to battle it out .

Sad for them, they did everything to get into thenext WC, its a shame really, I d prefer Irish over Zimboks anyday. Why not have an Associate's cup for the Bottom eight teams and the two finalists will qualify :dontknow:

My point is even if you reduced the WC down to 10 team, you make league of 4 or 5 of teams below rank 8 and whichever teams are top 2 will qualify. Why is Bangladsh granted an automatic entry ? They have been as hapless as any other other minnows. In fact, Ireland hav shown a lot more steel and consistently in little they have played

Cricket Committee suggests qualifiers for 2015 WC

In what could be a major boost to Associate teams, the ICC Cricket Committee has recommended there be a qualifying process for the 2015 World Cup after a two-day meeting at Lord's. Though the recommendations are far from binding, the development will be warmly received by the nations who had seemingly been locked out of the tournament by the ICC's initial decision to limit the tournament to 10 teams. "It's excellent news that another group of people have put their support behind the new for a qualifying process," Warren Deutrom, the Cricket Ireland CEO, told ESPNcricinfo. The Associates were given a lifeline when ICC President Sharad Pawar requested that the tournament's composition be reassessed at the ICC's annual conference in Hong Kong at the end of June in response to strong and widespread criticism. The Cricket Committee's recommendation, which was one of a host of issues discussed at the meeting, could well represent a significant step forward to them. The matter will now be passed on to the Chief Executives' Committee (CEC) for approval before finally being presented to the ICC Executive Board for approval. As such, any recommendations made by the Cricket Committee will not take effect until ratified and/or approved by the CEC and the Board, both of which are scheduled to meet in Hong Kong from June 26 to 30. At its meeting on April 4, two days after the World Cup final, the ICC board had decided to allow only the ten full members in the 2015 edition to be hosted in Australia and New Zealand, a decision greeted with incredulity by both the boards and cricketers of several Associate nations. The latest turnaround was enthusiastically received by Ireland seamer Trent Johnston, who had travelled to London to take part in the meeting as the Associate nation representative and immediately tweeted: "Unanimous decision by ICC Cricket Committee to recommend to the Chief Exec Committee there be a qualifier for CWC 2015. A great result!"
