Amit Mishra: I considered quitting

Mishra does not have in him to succeed against good batting lines. He can be effective against minnows like Zim because they struggle to read his googlies' date=' but good batsmen will come out of the crease and thrash him. If Dhoni is to play third spinner in ODIs, rather play Ojha or Nadeem.[/quote'] agree.even Rahul is better if he wants a leggie

It is not Mishra's height - which in fact is perfect for a spinner because when he flights it, it goes beyond the batsman's eyeline. It is Mishra's protrusion that prevents him from getting the zip of the wicket.

It is more to do with strength. You might be a spinner but for leg spinner to give revs to the ball, you need to put much as much effort as a pacer. Warne had an ideal round armish action for a leg spinner and was a strong guy.

I know there might already be threads on Mishra but I am feeling like a proud talent scout for some reason today. The delivery to get Clarke' date=' one of the best players of spin bowling, was mind blowing. On a pitch where batsmen have already started expecting turn, it was the dog that did not bark which got Clarke. It was a Warne like dismissal and if this guy is given chances to display his [b']charisma, he is a 300 test wicket taker. I'll write more when I sleep this out for some time and satiate myself of watching classic leg spin on youtube by Mishra.
Outy on Mishra's test debut. Now we know why his bye bye threads work like a charm. :giggle:

Look, we need to not compare him to Warne or any other bowler. Warne was chubby but had a different action. The issue with Mishra is that the protrusion prevents transfer of weight which in turn affects dip, swerve and turn.

People think its easy bowling leg spin, but you need to put in as much effort as a fast bowler .

Bhajji on occasions did that but he was way too inconsistent.

There is a huge difference between action of Ojha and Panesar. Ojha playing on Indian pitches does not put that much effort and mostly loops the ball and expect the pitch to do the rest while Monty puts more effort in his bowling that is why he gets the pace too. Monty on Indian pitches will be far more difficult than Ojha which was proved.

The thing that pisses me off is his mental strength. Will look world class against poor players or when batsmen are quiet, but the moment they attack him he completely loses it and starts bowlig long hops and full tosses Even last match he started well but once Watson attacked him he lost his line and length completely
