Ishant Sharma Whats Going Wrong

What about length? He still seems to bowl consistently at a safe' date=' good length rather than going fuller for the surprise yorker or digging it in a bit to get the batsman on his backfoot. Result? He has Dilip-Doshi-like economy, but no wickets to show for it. Am I way off?[/quote'] Indeed but the length he bowls is the only length he is currently 'effective' at- too short and he gets clobbered ( guy does not have extreme pace, ie, does not consistently bowl 145kph+ through an entire spell ala Akhtar or Roach) and since he has lost his ability to seam the ball even marginally, batsmen can clobber him when he pitches it up. Due to his height, good length deliveries do not work either, as the bounce on most pitches takes lbw out of the picture. This is something that affects Morkel as well ( inability to find lbws from good length) but he compensates for this by getting the ball to move off the seam and bending his back a bit more than Ishant, to generate consistently greater bounce.

Again shows why good seam position is important .The same line with inswing looks different all though its more reverseswing than normal . But even at 130 he looks far more dangerous .Just Maintain the line and :pray::antijinx:

They are showing India last tour of newzealand, his seam position was perfect for an ins winger and his action so much better.

After 50 tests if he still needs guidance to fix his problems , then we have to move on.

Ishant Sharma had a great debut season as so many indian fast bowlers bursting into limelight in perth test in india's tour of australia 2008 ...............
Looking at the Pakistanis is sometimes a bit like looking into a mirror, a looking glass self, except everything is reversed. Because our bowler Ishant is their batting Afridi. Victim to our separate but similar weaknesses, we ache for flamboyant pacers and they desire fantastic batsmen. Therefore they are easily conned by 'fantastic' batsmen who do not really deliver as we are by 'flamboyant' pacers who do not really deliver. All of Pakistan saw a young boy hit the fastest century on his ODI debut and Afridi made a 17 year career out of it. All of India - myself included- saw that spell by Ishant to Ponting and were mesmerized by the potential of it. Ishant's many chances despite failures have come from that one spell. Ishant is our Afridi, he will rarely deliver, and never consistently up to expectations, but he will always hang about the team because of (a) 'lack of options' and/ or (b) 'potential'. So to OP, there is nothing that has gone wrong with Ishant, this is precisely who he is as a bowler.

Untill he works on the technical aspects, he is never gonna succeed. Seam position is not the only thing that needed some work. Look at hid runup these days. It is so ruined. He had such good runup in 2008. He runs so gingerly with hiccups like he does not want to run. He also shortened his runup on advice of Zak. Two big reasons for his lack of pace.

All Ishu has to do is to work on Dhoni's testicles which, I believe, he has been doing and will continue to do so... This will ensure him to get selected in the playing XI, at least till Dhoni is at the helm.. He doesn't need to "work" on his bowling technique or growing some grey cells...

Dont forget wayward. It has always been a mystery to me and many English followers how India with 1 bn plus people cant find a few good quicks. The talent pool is so massive, the choices are almost infinite. I mean even the Kiwis have consistently had better bowlers and that with 4 million people.

The answer is simple: He is cr@p! He only wanted to impress in his first few tours so that he could get a lucrative IPL contract and make plenty of money. Now, when he bowls, he doesn't even look at pushing himself. He doesn't want to risk injury because that would mean he cannot make the money he does playing in the IPL. And yeah..... he does not possess a brain!

Ishant Sharma is mediocre and always has been. Being tall is nothing is you are slow and wayward in addition.
No,the bowling man of series in india against a australia on flat pitches was as a good a fast bowling display in india in last 20 years by any bowler.

1 bite doesnt make a deal. He is rubbish. Hell, if you play enough games, everyone will have the odd good effort.
On Indian pitches it's not easy for any fast bowler to get mos against Aussie batsman.

He was and is a cr@p bowler. One hostile spell of bowling to Ponting has screwed up India big time. Look at his averages in - Australia 74, England 59, SA 54. In short, whatever his minimal career achievements may be, are from bullying weak teams. Good teams have literally taken him apart.

Everyone says Ishnt tries hard, and perhaps that is true. But, he certainly lacks the guile to be a top class bowler - reminds me of Mohd. Sami who had pace, decent accuracy and swing and still has a Test avg of around 50.
