This is your honest answer - Awana has not jumped the queue, in fact, he was pretty much in the queue ahead of Pankaj Singh and Shami Ahmed. In the tour game, he was part of the India-A squad along with Dinda, Pathan, and VK. Pankaj Singh might be the next pace bowler in the queue. Shami Ahmed has potential, but in no way is he ready yet. He's hardly ever done well (and has also played very little) against a good FC batting side. He just has a handful of 5ers and has been really average for Bengal in this season.

Ok Thanks...Just from the recent matches standpoint Shami looked impressive but I guess Awana has been consistent longer...so good for him :two_thumbs_up:

Regarding T20 bowlers, pace isn't always a good thing unless well controlled. Aaron and Yadav struggle in that format in IPL due to lack of control. Plus Dinda can hit 140kmph and Awana. Main problem is Dinda's love for short bowling :cantstop: Although he took a funny 4- v Eng in T20 :giggle:

A five-for one day; an attacking half-century the next. Parvinder Awana's performance in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Karnataka was eye-catching, and well timed. India had just lost the Kolkata Test to England, and the selectors were due to pick the squad for Nagpur and the two Twenty20s. Patience had run out with Zaheer Khan and Awana, the Delhi seamer who has been part of the India A team, was selected in both squads. With no specialist batsmen left, he guided his partner Sumit Narwal, and they first inched towards safety before launching towards the target of 192 and past it. After he got news of his selection, Awana stepped up the pace. He hit the ball to the deep midwicket boundary to bring up his maiden first-class fifty. With the deficit wiped out, Awana attacked the bowling until his departure for 74. After a relatively quiet opening day, television news crews arrived at the ground when Awana's selection was announced. Having played the IPL and felt its spotlight, Awana saw the attention coming. "It is every player's dream to be selected for the national team and it was mine too," Awana said. "I've got the opportunity at the right time. I've had some good performances recently." He was rewarded with an IPL stint with Kings XI Punjab, and he impressed with his ability to bowl in the mid-140 kph range. Awana expected to be on the plane to the Caribbean for an A tour after the IPL, but was overlooked by the selectors. He took the disappointment in his stride, saying his early life lessons helped him cope with rejection. However, an injury to RP Singh opened a slot for Awana. He played one game on tour and took three wickets. He was overlooked again for the A tour of New Zealand but was picked for the A team's match against England at Brabourne Stadium. He went wicketless, but his two five-fors this Ranji season were a timely reminder of his talents. Awana doesn't rely on raw pace alone. Against Karnataka, on a grassy first-day pitch, he pitched the ball up, swung it and tempted the batsmen to drive. The ball that broke KL Rahul's defences and sent the off stump for a spin was his best delivery. "I've learnt that just pace isn't enough, that line and length is also important," he said. "My deliveries cut in naturally. In India, we mostly get flat wickets. So I don't think about what kind of pitch I get, I concentrate on bowling well through the air. I've been playing for Delhi, and I've learnt a lot from my seniors, Ashish bhai [Nehra], Ishant [sharma], Viru bhai [sehwag]. I've also learnt a lot from the IPL." In Karnataka's second innings, when Delhi were searching for a breakthrough, Awana was the only bowler who created chances against both batsmen. The wicketkeeper and slips let him down. Did he feel any extra pressure to deliver, now that he's been picked in the Test squad? "Pressure?" he asks with a smile. "No pressure at all. I've been playing for five-six years anyway."

I will be Surprised actually pleasantly Surprised if Ravindra Jadeja scores 25 runs or more in any of the Nagpur innings- I do not Consider him skillfull enough as a Batsman to play Tests..... But as a Fielder he is Good. But as a Spin Bowler He is fastish left Arm SpiNner so kevin Peterson will get out to him if not to Ojha........he is a Good spinner and a good fielder.......I don't think he is a Good batsman even after his triple hundred"s but I wish him Good Luck as he will surely play in 11. Awana surely shud play ahead of unlucky Ishant as it seems awana surely knows how to get Wickets on indian Tracks and even Dinda shud play ahead of Ishant. Dhoni shud play dinda and awana ..supported by aswin ojha and jaddu...that's a DECENT attack specially at least awana is in Superb form and Dinda deserves the chance Most.... What this cud mean is Rahane gets a chance some where........ Kohli shud play and shudnt be dropped from the eleven

And how do you determine who is skillfull? I always though you use the domestics to judge players or has it changed? He is doing well, perhaps the best in-form batsman and it's important to reward players for their good performances.

I have never seen jaddu playing genuine fast bowlers well....against genuine pace one needs really good front foot technique. UV got out as he was on the back foot and expecting a bouncer .........i myself played a genuine quickie and i was kinda pushed back by his bouncers and resulted into forgetting the basics and did not play a front foot defence shot .. against a genuine quick bowler one needs good water tight technique of a pujara and a rahane or may be even shekhar dhawan can play...this guy does not have the skills at this moment to play finn and anderson and Jaddu is a sitting duck against them...........

I cant understand the rationale behind not selecting Pankaj Singh. He has been performing consistently well in FC. Maybe they think he wont do well in test cricket against batsmen who are used to medium fast bowlers. Maybe not quick enough like Praveen Kumar ? I dont think Awana or Dinda are better bowlers than him.

Dinda, Awana, Pankaj aer of similar pace on average. No one is quick, just medium fast-fast medium rang, 130-140K.

I would rather see Bala and Chawla getting hit for sixes than young, talented bowlers like Yadav, Awana, Pankaj or Pragyan Ojha getting smashed and lose their confidence. :cantstop: These bowlers have a future in tests. I feel a bit sorry for Bhuvaneswar Kumar. T20 is not an ideal start for a young bowler. He may become defensive very early on in his career.

awana is quicker then shami, pankaj. shami is still young, fairly quick. pankaj is medium at best. with his tall height he does get domestic wickets but maybe selector dont see him troubling international batsmen. bhuvneshwer is taller version of vinay who can bat lot better. he is the best of the kumar's IMO. i can envision him spearheading indian pace attack in future.

Pankaj Singh now bowls at good pace , this season he has increased his pace by 6 to 7 k's , high 130's and low 140's, Shami is faster then Awana and only a bit less pace then Yadav , he can bowl in the 140's, Awana averages 132 in 4 day games.Pankaj is the best bet for test's, next Shami who is the more pacier and better version of Sreesanth, Awana might work in odi's not sure he will be good in test's
