You can't seriously compare Australia with India as cricketing nations. Australia is the most successful cricket nation of all time, whereas India is seventh out of eight major teams on the all time win/loss ratio in Tests - only NZ is behind us and they are a tiny country in which rugby is the main sport. Australia are going through a tough phase but will eventually come out of it, as they always do. India will always wallow in mediocrity with bursts of success when we find some talented players. When the objective of our administrators is solely to use cricket to make money that is bound to happen. In no other country would a captain have been retained after losing 0-8 and home series but the fact that captain is the blue eyed boy of the BCCI boss is far, far more significant than how awful his captaincy has been.

You put it really well there. The unfortunate truth is that there is no accountability when it comes to Indian cricket. Nobody is accountable for defeat after defeats - nobody wants to take responsibilty and right a wrong. Not BCCI, not the selection panel and not the captain.

BCCI will never ask for his retirement because nobody in the BCCI has the guts t do that. This is not Australia where an out-of-form Steve Waugh can be dropped despite being a highly respected cricketer. This is India, where we worship idols and believe that they can do no wrong. If Sachin were to choose to play Tests for another 5 years, BCCI will just play along.

BCCI are quick to call on an AGM for lack of sponsors for IPL-6 but are evasive about Sachin/Dhoni for too long now

Yes they took tough decisions and will lose this game. if aussies lose 4-0 the whole making presentation specially by players who are yet to get games in series is going to look stupid. Question is are Indians willing to live with more defeats after sweeping changes, we think change in team means fortune change. The day dhoni is dropped and we lose a game/series the very same ppl who want his head will want the most winning captain back

Selectors are doing that even now, doesn't matter what you and I think about replacing dhoni , they are continuing with him

So our team failed to get itself together in both series. In SA series this wont be so because we have a totally better team now. Pujara, Kohli, Vijay, Kumar, Jadeja, Ashwin(he's improved), Yadav, Aaron(once he's fit), Ojha, Dhawan, Rahane and , Sehwag(if he's improved and performing domesitcally) and Gambhir(once he settles out his technique.

Even in Aus and Eng, all the team spoke about was that when Eng and Aus come to India, we will beat them. Of course, that didn't happen with England. There should be a pride associated with playing for India and it should not be assumed that just being senior and having played in multiple Test series in the past qualifies a player for an automatic selection despite horrendous performances. What is the worst thing that could have happened if we had tried out new players there? We would have lost all matches. We did that anyway!

that team was on the end but still experienced.much preferred over greenhorns we have now.dont look too much into these home games.buddhas would have done well as well

Fletcher must be knowing some BCCI dirty secret and must be blackmailing the BCCI chief. How else could he have got an extension is beyond my realm of understanding.

Not really, I honestly believe it was a good decision. We had Guru Greg in a similar position, he got rid of Ganguly which he wanted and was about getting his team just right when he was thrown out. These sort of coaches need a little more time since anyone new won't really be having a magic wand to change things. Its very easy to throw someone out but it takes a lot of gut to back someone. Good decisiion from BCCI. It may backfire but I honestly think its not so bad.

It may backfire but I honestly think its not so bad.[/quote'] Well, in the case of Greg Chappell, at least he was trying to make changes for the betterment of the team by getting rid of a non-performing captain. Fletcher, on the other hand, is just dancing to the tunes of Dhoni and seemingly is unable to make any changes. I don't believe Fletcher can bring about any positive changes. In fact, he got a great team - a team that won the World Cup, had won the World T20 4 years before that and also had been recognized as a force on away tours and he turned it into an ordinary team that lost all its credibility built over the years on away tours.
