maniac Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Just wondering.... I mean Shikhar and SIR are getting their well-deserved accolades, but Cricket is a team game and I am sure there were some great supporting performances. Thoughts
maniac Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Let me Start....I think Dhoni's captaincy was over all good no? I am sure there were more such performances :)
surajmal Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Kumar's bowling was crucial in all the matches (other than the final).
deathmonger Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Ashwin - Bowling/Slip catching Kohli - Crucial knocks in final/semis Bhuvi - Good opening spells Rohit - Decent batting/Good opening partnerships/Great fielding (especially the important save in the last over of the final) Umesh - Was mostly crap but bowled well in semis/final Raina - Great catching
saneindian Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Dhoni's keeping..brilliant catches vs Pak and the quick stumpings of Trott/Bell Our slip catching, particularly Raina Bhuvi's brillinatly contrlled seam and swing bowling with the new ball in the 1st PP Ashwin's regaining his wicket taking form in the later stages of the tournament Ishant Sharma picking regular wickets as a 3rd seamer, something our pacers have struggled to do in ODIs regularly

maniac Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Ashwin's slip catching was real good ...But Dhoni's keeping was poor...some of the slip catches were something that the keeper had to go for...His stumpings were brilliant though
Por Favor Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Ishant deserves some credit..... The poor guy got all the flak during the tournament (mostly deserved)..... But at the end of the day we wouldn't have won without Ishant taking out both Morgan and Bopara. Even if one were to have played till the end, Poms would have won. Dhoni stuck with him and Ishant in his weird way delivered..... Call it luck, intuition or whatever, but it just seems to happen a lot with MSD. I'm just starting to believe their is some method to this madness.....
saneindian Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Agree...Also Raina's slip catching was good but a dangerous sign that there might be another Test return right around the corner Thats a real worry with Dhoni. After such successes, he tries to be bull headed and makes shocking selection errors. Hope no such fiascos anymore
adi B Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 i think the bowlers and fielders gave 2 world class performances during the semi finals and the finals i.e the biggest stage of the tournie..separates the men from the boys :king:
vvvslaxman Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Bruce Oxenford. :P He is not a contributor. He is more of an excuse for whinging.
Yoda-esque Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Let me Start....I think Dhoni's captaincy was over all good no? I am sure there were more such performances :) Yes,Ishant is the bets bowler in the world today. And his tresses have gals drooling all over him.
SLICKR392 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Bhuvi picked crucial wickets and I don't want Ishant on the side but he has got us wickets and bowled far better than Yadav. We rarely got to see the middle order :hmmm:
flamy Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 For sure, Raina, Kohli, Rohit, Jadeja for fielding. Karthik contributed somewhat, but not really for me.
Sachin=GOD Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Rohit's good batting and Raina's good fielding were under appreciated.
Deleted_User_1 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Ashwin - Bowling/Slip catching Kohli - Crucial knocks in final/semis Bhuvi - Good opening spells Rohit - Decent batting/Good opening partnerships/Great fielding (especially the important save in the last over of the final) Umesh - Was mostly crap but bowled well in semis/final Raina - Great catching Rohit's diving save in the last over probably won it for India...
