Manny_Pacquiao Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Player 1 : Averages 30 with a SR of 75 with a bowling avg of 35 Player 2 : Averages 30 with a SR of 80 with a bowling avg of 30 Why would anyone choose player 1 over player 2? Sakib is overrated. Stats are boosted by playing against minnows. If we hold him to the same criteria that we hold every other player against, then he comes up short. If he is going to be playing at 4 or 5, he needs to have a higher average or a higher SR. Jadeja has been really good as a bowler in the last couple of years and has been handy with the bat(high SR) at number 7. If he continues like this for a few more years, he could become a great. But thats a big if. All this in ODI's. Jadega hardly has a test career to be compared with anyone. very unfair on shakib. in the last 3 years he averages close to 40 with the bat, 26 with the ball --> Link since the 2011 world cup, same batting average and averaging 30 with the ball --> Link he was outstanding in the asia cup. short memories? as a batsman, there is NO comparison whatsoever. shakib is an excellent batsman and his recent batting average proves this. i am happy to eat my words on jadeja - as i used to think he was a bits and pieces player and nothing more - and he has been great since his return in the winter, but he hasn't done it for as long as shakib has. if he can match shakib's record over the last 3 years, then we can talk. shakib is also far more important to the bangbros than jadeja is to india. shakib is their best player and although bangbros dont win games, he always stands out with bat/ball/in the field. thats impressive when you consider the huge pressure he plays under. i would definitely take shakib over jaddu. in fact, i would probably take him over raina as a batsman alone, even though raina is pretty clutch in big games.

Why is it unfair? If you look at their entire career, both has had decent starts with very good last couple of years. Jadeja still has had a better career so far. Jadeja comes in at #7, so his average is lower with a higher SR. Skahib comes in earlier and has a higher avg with lower SR. As batsmen, Jadeja is a better #7 while shakib is a better #4. In bowling, jadeja is one of the worlds best. This is where jadeja trumps over shakib. Match shakibs record in last 3 years in what? Jadeja has played more in his last 2 years with a slightly worse average but much better SR and a slightly better bowling average. So there isnt much to choose between them based on last 2/3 years. Jadeja being less important is of no consequence to the quality of either player. Skahib played well in Asia cup, sure...how does that give him the edge when jadeja has been instrumental for india (a much harder team to stand out in) in champions trophy and the england series prior to this. Shakib had a good run with the bat while jadeja had a good run with the ball. Jadeja is hardly going to get a chance with the bat like skahib simply because he comes in at #7. On picking among these 2 as a batsman, it would depend on which team you want to pick for. If you are picking for BD, then i suppose you would want skahib with a good avg at a low SR. But if you are picking for India, then i would pick people like jadeja and raina at #5/6 who can get me the quick 35 runs. Neither are a kallis or a watson, but looking at the last couple of years, i would pick jadeja to come closer to these 2.

Because player 1 has 2x the experience of player 2. Sakib is overrated. Err no he is not. Up to this year, when Jaddu secured his spot in the ODI XI, Sakib would be a shoo-in in the Indian side. Stats are boosted by playing against minnows. They *are* one of the minnows. Sakib bowls regularly with zero backup, staring at monster scores of the opposition and Bangles who cant consistently put up 200 on the board. If we hold him to the same criteria that we hold every other player against, then he comes up short. If he is going to be playing at 4 or 5, he needs to have a higher average or a higher SR. Sakib in ODIs would be a direct swap for Jadeja. And i still would take Sakib over Jadeja in ODIs. In tests, its no question, its Sakib all the way. Jadeja has been really good as a bowler in the last couple of years and has been handy with the bat(high SR) at number 7. If he continues like this for a few more years, he could become a great. But thats a big if. Sakib has been doing it practically the same, for longer.

King Tendulkar Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Also dont forget most of time teams put out reserve teams against bangla and also dont try as hard cos playing bangla and can win at 70%. Whats shakibs record in world cups?
Sean Bradley Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Heres a fair comparison of the two Batting : Shakib>Jadeja Bowling: Jadeja > Shakib Fielding : Jadeja >> Shakib.

Jadeda is not half the player Sakib He might not be there yet but lol this is trolling.
Vilander Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Sakib is the best ever bangladeshi player, greatest batsman and bowler from his country. Jadeja is currently the best allrounder alternative in indian ODI outfit and is a contant member in indian team, Sakib has enough skills to break into second string indian domestic sides definitely, amazing achievement for 'sonar bongaaal'.:icflove: :cantstop:
BeautifulGame Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Away from Bangladesh Shakib Averages 21 with the bat and 40 with the ball (test playing countries) in ODIs.Ya sure he would walk into Indian team :hysterical: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/56143.html?class=2;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=default;template=results;type=allround
Yoda-esque Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Jadeja. He has the ability to make things happen. Shakib would not be in the Indian team for sure.
