No, Srinath's quickest was 143, Nehra 149, Zak 147 and they were certainly quick. Speed guns cannot show high speeds only for one bowler. McGrath was at his usual 130-135k.

that is still considered the fastest ball ever. There was no debate. Akhtar and Lee were at their peak in terms of pace in those days.

you don't need vouch. It is a common sense actually. A relatively young Mcgrath clocked 140 plus in 1999 wc that too at 29, 6 years after his debut and by the time he retired, he was barely bowling 130. So, it tells you that bowlers lose considerable pace with age barring some exceptions. Regarding Swing, it depends on conditions. It is not a magic. Even BK doesn't swing everywhere.

Lot of it was lifted seams and doctored balls. The lateral movement of the balls is about the same. Bhuvi is also more consistent and accurate.

Dude, you can argue till the cows come home about how doctored the balls were when he was bowling with the old ball. With the new ball, its not an issue- you dont doctor a new ball that easily. The Paki doctoring was always an issue with the old ball. With the new ball, Akram could swing it both ways better than Bhuvi (who does not swing it nearly as well as Akram did for outswingers) and on both sides of the wicket. Bhuvi does not. Bhuvi is not more accurate than Akram, he is more accurate than Waqar. Bhuvi is a good swing bowler- he could use more pace or ability to hit the deck like Vaas or Zak but he is nowhere the swinger of the ball that Akram was.

Speculative and Argumentative. The 161 from Aktar held fastest ever even today ( although in other threads i reserve the right tol argue its authenticity with pak posters :) ), the 149.5? from nehra where held fastest by an Indian for some time. In that series Srinath and Akram who were at the faag ends of their career's bowled upto 140+, while Vaas and Magrath trundled as usual. Akram was an out and out quick who was also a phenomenal swing bowler. There were tests/ODI's where he would run through sides like Steyn does now, hurrying batsmen, yorking them.. speed guns are only if i can say derivative, primary source of confirmation for speed is always the batsman.

Lot of his swing and pace are myths. When Akram was fast he had little control. As far as new ball swing is considered I don't see the so called superiority. Let me address the issue of pace also. Look at Akram and his muscle mass. There was indiscriminate use of anabolic steroids in those days to. So please quit rubbishing Bhuvi and putting Akram on a pedal.
