ODIs: Offensive option (wicket taking option) for Spinner - Mishra or Ashwin? Can only one be in playing 11? Go for the offspinner (variety for jadeja?) or legspin attacking option? 33800.jpg

Ashwin is much better I dont rate Mishra from IPL and minnow bashing.to me Karan Sharma should be given a chance as a leggie

He is successful against smaller teams because they struggle to pick his googly and most of his wickets here were on googly. He still does not get enough rip on his leg break though he has developed some pace variations.

That's why it's important to test new guys as well, like rasul, karan sharma, their is an offie ,who played in last year semi's don't know his name.

I back people when they say he wont be effective v the big teams But IMO worth a try v Aus at home and in SA. You can only judge him when he actually plays v the big teams. no point in simply saying oh he wont do it. Maybe he can. Looking at the way the aussies were playing spin in the ashes me thinks might just be the better option than Ashwin in the subcontinent. Its about time IMO India develop the depth. BCCI should be sending teams to places like Ireland Scotland Netherlands etc on a regular basis while resting the main odi players.

Ashwin should be picked ahead of Mishra, there is no doubt about that. However, i question whether Ashwin can be considered an attacking spinner. To me, he seems more like a defensive spinner, he came to prominence initially because he bowled in the powerplays in the IPL and was economical, Mishra is more of a wicket taker whereas Ashwin plays a more restrictive role in my opinion. Mishra deserves a go in ODI's but should never come into contention for the test team.
