lol if Mishra is a wicket taker he should do better in tests' date='no?[/quote'] You would think so but after his promising start to his test career Mishra has been a failure in tests. He was outbowled by Ojha on numerous occasions. Also i think he gets a lot of wickets in limited overs cricket because batsman try to slog him, in tests they would not need to do that.

Thats exactly why I feel he wont be successful against big teams.good batsmen would have no problem milking him and now and then he gives a boundary ball too which they can hit.has no ball problems too

Ashwin should be picked ahead of Mishra, there is no doubt about that. However, i question whether Ashwin can be considered an attacking spinner. To me, he seems more like a defensive spinner, he came to prominence initially because he bowled in the powerplays in the IPL and was economical, Mishra is more of a wicket taker whereas Ashwin plays a more restrictive role in my opinion. Mishra deserves a go in ODI's but should never come into contention for the test team.
Ashwin is basically an attacking bowler. Even if he came into limelight by bowling power plays in IPL, but even there he used to be attacking. He used flight the ball and will rarely bowler flatter defensive trajectory. Even now, he does the same.

Mishra is utter crap in tests, he is so slow thru the air and he has lot of control issues and other than googly I don't think he has anything special.

6 out of 9 mishra wicket's are from googley. And this is zimboes who cant play galli mohalla spinners. Aswin is still better than mishra uncle. we are still missing kumble.

in tests, i would want Vishal Joshi from Saurasthra.... he needs a couple of Ranji seasons but look at the turn he gets. He made Punjab's batsmen look silly in the Ranji SF last year  Mandrop :hehe: First 5 wicket haul for Vishal Joshi (Ranji Trophy 2012/13 - 1st SF: Saurashtra vs Punjab, Day 5) - YouTube
his last match against gujarat 50 over match. http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/engine/match/576205.html 10-0-44-1.

And Gujarat got 4 patels. WTH. Patel c & b by patel. ( umpire patel) in crow of Patels...

He has done well with whatever opportunities he has been given so far. How the hell can you judge he wouldnt do well against other teams without even playing enough games against them ? This is what I hate about Indian fans. Too much over criticism and knee jerk reactions and most people just like to trash cricketers for the fun of it.

Yes the question - Is Mishra an improved bowler now compared to two years ago? And does the improvement warrant a place in the 11 or at least in the 15/16-squad going forward...Will he be the backup spinner in squad to cover for injury to R. Ashwin? Kumble is irreplaceable. Forget it, lets not even compare our leggies to Kumble who was a matchwinner on his own. We have Mishra, Kaanpidensh Chawla, Rahul Sharma, Karan Sharma...for leggies. Anyone else on the horizon for leggies?

Kumble was never the match winner in other countries like he was in India, Bhajji was even worse. We need a match winning spinner who can win matches other than in India and be a threat every where, Ashwin has failed in Australia and let us see if he can do anything in south Africa.

Swann right now is threat everywhere as he proved in India also UAE SL and South Africa and Warne and Murali before other than India in Warne's case and Australia and India in Murali's case. Both Kumble and Bhajji became half the bowlers the moment they left India, you cannot have the avg jump from 20s to 40s the moment you leave India in case of an Indian spinner. Indian spinners in India are very good in letting the pitch do the work for them, once pitch does not do that work they are found wanting in kumble's case it was understandable as he was never a big spinner but others are just incompetent to be faster thru air and putting more English on ball.

not sh1t' date='mediocre, particularly the last 1 season[/quote'] Part of the reason is how Dhoni uses him. As a defensive and containing bowler, not a wicket taking one. Dhoni is the reason he started bowling round the wicket, looking for catches at leg slip, instead of attacking stumps. No spinner can be attacking in such a scenario

No spinner can be attacking in such a scenario[/quote'] round the wicket is the best way for off spinners who don't have that dip in the air to lock batsmen on the crease and when pitch is slow batsmen have all the time in the world to rock back and play with ease. In Ashwin's case round the wicket helps as his carrom ball comes into equation more.He was milked for easy runs otherwise.
