Crookbond Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Part of the reason is how Dhoni uses him. As a defensive and containing bowler' date=' not a wicket taking one. [b']Dhoni is the reason he started bowling round the wicket, looking for catches at leg slip, instead of attacking stumps. No spinner can be attacking in such a scenario Actually, the round the wicket option is more an attacking line than over the wicket.
Cricashfaq Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Ashwin is more experienced bowler and can perform better in pressure situations
AnkurUpadhyay Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 mishra is very slow in the air and off the pitch and he often bowls a short delivery... Ashwin is better but we still need a bwtter spinner..
Fontaine Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 He is successful against smaller teams because they struggle to pick his googly and most of his wickets here were on googly. He still does not get enough rip on his leg break though he has developed some pace variations. Exactly! Good batsmen have figured out Mishra and know how to pick him and he hasn't evolved enough to counter that. Whereas someone like Ashwin has steadily improved, learned how to bowl a caroom ball, improved his fielding, batting etc. You alway want to invest in players who are working hard and developing/improving instead of over the hill cricketers who can't even improve their basic fitness. I mean seriously, you get paid millions to play you're favorite sport and you keep show up fat and out of shape? The game has long moved on and bowlers be it spin/pace can no longer afford to treat fitness like it's nothing to worry about. Keep Mishra in domestic cricket and instead invest in guys like Rasool.

In the ipl i saw plenty of good batsman who fell to Mishra. I think he is varying his pace a lot more. There is defo something different about him. Sharn warme himself was not the fittest while playing. If anything he looks more fit right now
Jersey #10 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 We need Ashwin no matter what. He's an instict bowler and has a lot of variety. Not too many bowlers can bowl to the situation as well as Ash does. Mishra was an ace bowler in the past IPL if I remember correctly. Mishra and Ojha will unfortunately always play as the third spinner when needed. In any other country they would be frontline bowlers without a doubt. We can play Ash, Mishra, Jaddu in the same XI when we play on spinning tracks
G_B_ Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 how about this? Ashwin is our best bowler and we send him to SA to get as much practise as possible. Mishra is our deputy and we use him for the home ODIs v Aus. Looking at how Aus are playing spin right now me thinks Raina will have a good time with the ball

vvvslaxman Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Any leg spinner is going to be attacking by default espeially to a right hander. If a player doesn't know how to play spin off and leg, he would rather prefer to face offie than a leggie. But against good sides against spin it is down to who is better. Now that Ashwin has really added leg spin to his bowling armory he has increased his chances of taking wcikets.

I dont think there are enough leg spinners in world cricket for batsman to play them.
Jersey #10 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Not in SL' date=' Pakistan and England[/quote'] Herath isn't much better than Mishra and Ojha. Pakistan and England, I agree. Australia would die for any one of the two :haha: - They just could not fill any of their legends' shoes. Warne is being missed to date.

maniac Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Misra is the only guy right now keeping the art of leg spin alive His closest opponents are Steve Smith and Piyush Chawla :cantstop:
G_B_ Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 yup India should try out Karn Sharma for sure. Dont think Rahul Sharma is an out and out leg spinner. Pakistan Afridi SL nobody at the moment India Mishra Chawla etc England nobody Australia Smith SA nobody WI Bishoo BD (i dont know) Zim nobody
vvvslaxman Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 SA will never have Tahir:cantstop: correction :cantstop:

saneindian Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Jaddu is better than both of them for ODIs and will play ahead of them if we pick only one spinner in the 11. Mishra's terrible fitness will be his undoing again. For someone who was out of the team and fighting for a comeback, would have expected him to be in a better shape but not to be. I hope Ashwin hasn;t started to put on the kilos during this break from cricket
fineleg Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Bcci needs to appoint a personal fitness trainer for mishy. Get him fit and get him to clean up aloo parantha habits. And then have him in squad of 15/16 The rest depends on ashwin's form which varies too And hope ashwin not developing pot belly in the interim period
Cricketics Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 MIshra best option when getting attacked. Jadeja is on a honemoon period. Don't know how long it will last. Right now he is doing good wit the bat and that form of his and confidence is shown in his bowling. Few matches without wickets and not much runs will put him on a radar and if India los along with him not performing, will basicallyl mean Bye Bye to Jadeja for couple of years. In test matchs, no one has really cemented his place. Ashwing has sucked too overseas. In India, all our spinners have done well, including MIshra in the past. Ashwin was outbowled by English spinners on our own ground, something which hasn't happend in ages. Infact Ojha outbowled Ashwin at home during that 2-1 series loss at home to England.
