Wow stop this knee jerk reaction. Raina is the best finisher n the most agressive batsman we have. He will always be first in my Odi n T20 squad. Samson who? In front of Raina
Right from the beginning of the series, people are questioning Raina batting at .no. 4. He is a very good finisher and should be used as such. A proper top order batsman like Pujara should bat at 4. Fans questioning Raina batting at no. 4 is not a knee jerk reaction but sound cricketing logic. Raina has problems both against the short ball ad well as the swinging ball. He should bat lower down.

Raina is still a very good ODI player but he should play at 5. I would have Pujara or Rahane in the side over Yuvraj to lend some stability to the middle order if a couple of wickets fall early or to build a partnership through good bowling spells.

Dhawan, Rohit, Raina, Yuvi, Jadeja, Ishant, Vinay, Ashwin sabko nikal do yaar, why just Raina or Ishant. Poori team hi change kar do. We also need a new captain, Dhoni too has been making a lot of mistakes, no?

He will make super 100s on a super flat pitch. But he is not suited to those pitches in aus. Yuvi provides us balance with the ball and bat. India have terrible pace bowlers which means they have to be covered via part timers.

Why you want to replace Raina? He has been very consistent for us. You need to remember his batting slot has been changing. Sometimes Dhoni pushes him up, sometimes below himself, sometimes he is thrown in with tailanders etc. He has still come really good for us. He is pretty consistent for batting order he gets to bat at. I won't replace him.

So why this focus on Raina? Lets look at others and how they have done in Aus Rohit averages 26 same as Raina Yuvi averages 30, take out Zim and avg goes down to 25, bowling avg of 120 Kohli averages 53 but scored all his runs vs the Lankans and didn't do much vs the Aussies (i.e. against good bowling) Jadeja averages 16 with the bat, 109 with the ball Ashwin averages 20 with the bat, 43 with the ball Umesh averages 59 with the ball Why not throw everyone out of the team to prepare for 2015? BTW if 2015 Aus WC is the criteria 1st name on the sheet should be Ishant , bowling avg of 20 and next should be PK, bowling avg of 28 followed by Vinay who averages 32 with the ball). Not sure if you would agree with those choices

Raina is a must in the team as a finisher. If India needs 90-100 runs in the Last 10 overs , then I would easily choose Raina above Dhoni. How can people forget his two good innings in Quarters and Semis of the Last WC + His very important contribution in partnership with Virat at Hobart ? The Guy is fighter and should be in the 2015 WC Team irrespective of what happens from hereon. Big match player.

If he is asked to play at no.4, its not gonna work at all. He is a good finisher who can play his shots and score quick runs. That's how he played his cricket for a long time. Sanju Samson is a better choice for no.4.

There are too many people waiting for their chance before sanju samsondingdong tiwary, rahane, pujare etc... all these talented unlucky guys who if were born outside india, would have been odi stars in that country by now samson is a replacement for dhoni as a keeper and has to wait for 5 years imo --- instead of project raina, dhoni can try dhoni at no.4

well lets answer your question. Rohit: In good form and trying to establish himself as opener and has done a decent job. Crucially has a few good innings in Aus. Raina's average in Aus is boosted by a string of not outs when the match was over. His highest score is 40 not out. Rohit has stellar knocks in the finals of the CB series. Dhawan: dont really need to say much Kohli: Has a solid technique and proven so in many countries. For him Australia is an anomaly Somebody like Raina actually sucks overall away from home. Barely average 30 with the bat. that includes against minnows and is heavily boosted by similar pattas in pakistan. Kohli maybe a sri lanka basher but thats a good thing considering Sri lanka do indeed manage to reach the semis and finals or tournaments with a lot more consistency than India. Surely that a big plus. They really had a super bowling performance in the ODIs last they tours Aus. Umesh is out of the side. and i agree with him Sir, has come on as a bowler. sucks as batsman. So long as continues to perform with ball should be played as bowler. Ashwin: axe him. Yuvi: crucial for balance with the ball as the 6th bowler. India need a 6th bowler. Specifically has the ability to rise to the occasion in major tournaments. Be it 2007 and 2011. The fact of the matter is that India won the champions trophy on the back of sacking some crucial (on paper) non performing assets like Sehwag. Gambhir, Zaheer and Yuvi (who was not performing). The fundamental point to take from the champions trophy victory is that change is good. Axe people and that brings the best out of the squad. Axeing Raina might actually force him to face his issues with the short ball. The question you should be asking is Do you want to be a Chelsea who have sacked multiple managers and won a lot of trophies or Do you want to be an Arsenal. Fantastic to watch and stability. But no trophies. I know which one i will be back. Be ruthless and have change. Your not going to get super flat pitches in aus for the world cup and the grounds are going to be huge. Bring in a pujara or a technically sound player. There are enough big hitters within his indian side.
