Piracy is not such an issue. The lack of a reading culture is the main issue. Most authors in India know that they cannot just write for a living. If a best-seller is pirated, it has made its basic money anyway. After that, piracy will probably help the book stay afloat in public memory for a longer period. Not that second hand/pirated booksellers make a killing.

This reminds me of the Wayne Rooney autobiography (the first one). I remember me and some mates walking into WH Smiths (the book store) and bursting out loudly in laugher when we saw his ugly mug on a book. This was back like 5-6 years ago. We simultaneously burst into laugher. This was when we were at university. We still laugh like crazy when we meet once a year (they are now all over the world). Too early. He may very well cash in on it in terms of sales and it might net him a tidy sum (say 1-2 crore?) But i suggest he concentrate on his career. Lame Pepsi adverts is one thing and a one off. Not writing books.

I highly doubt that these young athletes actually write the books. They are probably approached by a publishing company that offers them a cut of the sales of a book written by ghost writer pretending to be them. Easy money for Chand.

we all tend to make judgement very fast without knowing much about the subject. let us wait and read the book then be vocal. who knows it might contain something that shows some light on other aspect of the game and player. waiting for the book. reserve my comment untill then.
