Could have something to do with the excessive rain in earlier days. The pitch was damp earlier and the ball was not bouncing as much. As the pitch dried there was more bounce, during the end of our innings and the beginning of theirs. As rain came down again, the bounce decreased.

Sub continental bowlers who can learn from Johnson - Wahab comes to mind straight away. The only thing he has going for him is pace, although he isn't nearly as fast as Johnson. He'll never be a bowler who can swing the ball because of a poor wrist, and he sprays it around quite a bit too, so I think he should work on his speed and try to bowl fast and short. - Umesh Yadav - haven't seen much of him, but he does have speed, although he's much slower than Johnson and generally bowls in the early to mid 140s. any others?

I would say Mohammad Shami only because he is inexperienced and can learn from a more experienced bowler. But Shami is already impressive because he bowls at a good pace, has good seam position, bowls a good line and length, can reverse the ball and can also bowl yorkers. The management have to take care of this lad instead of playing him in every stupid ODI on flat tracks against FTBs but I highly doubt they would, considering how they have treated Indian pacers over the years.

The pitch would be probably very similar to the Durban one. In the Pakistan game the pitch was slow and helped spin a little bit. The new ball also swung for a little while but not much, my guess is tomorrow will be a similar pitch (230-240 Par score). Kumar and Mohit would be better suited for that pitch rather than Ishant and Yadav.

Johnson is a diff kind of bowler from start he was a physical beast he could bowl 150ks and maintain it but he too has problems with one of the worst seam positions going around in world cricket which reduces his ability to swing or seam the ball.But johnson is best used as an shock and awe bowler.Shami on the other hand has good pace with ability to swing the ball he needs to concentrate on that.
