Emm Yess Dee would still contain like a ship, if not for that and Emm Yess Dee would not play Mishra either if not for Kohli backing him. We can blame Ashwin for darting. But we should not blame Jadeja - since his style is darting, from very beginning he is a part-time darting bowler who is accurate - its his trademark.

Muloghonto Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 You need both in limited overs cricket. A wicket-taking option AND a container. Worked brilliantly for many a limited overs attacks. 'containers only, no real attack option' only worked for West Indies of the late 90s/early 2000s when Walsh & Ambrose were 'cointainer mode only' in LOIs and their backups were not good enough strike option. But it worked because both Walsh & Ambrose were in the top 1% of containers, who would routinely end up bowling marathon 6-8 over spells and leave the opposition at 50/1 or 50/0 after 15 overs, requiring them to take too much risks in the middle overs. But we do not have containers of that callibre bowling from both ends, so we need a strike option. Mishra is that in the middle overs.
maniac Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Misra seems a different bowler from what I saw of him in England......Was impressed with him last IPL especially how he bowled at the death but obviously took it with a pinch of salt,but looks like he has improved leaps and bounds

Leg spinners are a whole different animal when they got confidence vs when they don't. Even Kumble and Warne were suscceptible to this occasionally, when they looked like schoolboys when running low on confidence. You know a leggie is confident when he brings in the field and tries to bowl a fullish length. he is daring the batsman to clear the infield.

He was bowling at the death last IPL and for a leg spinner to do that definetely needs a lot of control,as I said we did not take iPL performance seriously but he has carried that ahead. Also not a single long hop from a legspinner in these conditions with so much dew is commendable in itself
