Switchblade Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/62601/dhoni-defends-struggling-yuvraj "The last four is the place where you really want to score as many runs as you can. That was an area we could not capitalise (on)," Dhoni said. "He was trying, the thing is he was trying and that's the most you can do. The fans maybe angry but you should think about the player too.As a player, (one) goes through more because you have your expectations and everything. "In front of 40,000 people, nobody wants to play bad cricket. It's part of the game. We have seen it happen to so many athletes, not just cricketers. It happens to all. Yuvi tried his best, it was an off day for him. It's not easy for a batsman to go out and straight away start slogging. " "We only have somebody like Suresh Raina to go in and start hitting from the very first ball. The other batsmen like to spend a bit of time first. We also wanted a left-right combination to make it slightly difficult for the bowlers to execute their plans. That was the reason why we had Yuvi at number four." "We have to give credit to the Sri Lankan bowlers. They were looking for wide yorkers and all were perfect wide yorkers. Other than one wide delivery, they were right on the mark which made it difficult for us to score freely.
Straight Drive Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 All excuses. Typical "Chalta hai" attitude which is why we lost series in SA, NZL, Asia Cup and this T20 Cup.
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/62601/dhoni-defends-struggling-yuvraj lol. this is no support. Some of you need to know a bit about team dynamics. Yuvraj will never allow a batsman like Raina come above him with 10 overs to go. 2 - 3 overs is a different thing. how many times have you seen that? seniority of batsmen is a big big think in subcontinental teams. more so with India and Pakistan
Lord Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Why the hell did you not send Raina in then, you dumbo :wall:
velu Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Why the hell did you not send Raina in then' date='you dumbo :wall:[/quote'] while bowling he sent raina b4 uv :hysterical:
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Why the hell did you not send Raina in then' date='you dumbo :wall:[/quote'] because 10 overs were left. and there was a left arm offie. It wasnt such a bad thing, Yuvi hits spinner better than Raina. Had it been 2 3 overs I am sure Raina would have come
Lord Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 while bowling he sent raina b4 uv :hysterical: and even Mishra:giggle:
Old guy Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Defend all you want ..even I would have but drop him...do what captain is supposed to do and see reality and do the hard job of dropping your friend he was great match winner for us but even at his prime he was useless in Australia and now it's time we find some one else
Lord Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 because 10 overs were left. and there was a left arm offie. It wasnt such a bad thing, Yuvi hits spinner better than Raina. Had it been 2 3 overs I am sure Raina would have come T20 is all about form.We scored only 65 in first 10 overs.so obviously we needed someone to step up the RR and hit from word go rather than someone who likes to settle in first.Raina was the man. Raina is surely a better player of spin than Yuvraj too
Lord Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Defend all you want ..even I would have but drop him...do what captain is supposed to do and see reality and do the hard job of dropping your friend he was great match winner for us but even at his prime he was useless in Australia and now it's time we find some one else true.I don't think he was coming back in ODIs anyway but even from T20s he should be gone.
rkt.india Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 After the slow start in first ten overs, we needed someone who could score get go while Kohli could have batted through and there is no one better than Raina in these conditions against medium pacers and spinners to do that.
IndianRenegade Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Don't see what else Dhoni can do. You don't wash your dirty Lenin in public.
skindia Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Yuvi will be back as a coach,he is srk of chak de india
Straight Drive Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 "Today is a big day, so let's not talk about selection because, effectively our season ends today. Now we go into the domestic cricket with the IPL. So let's not talk about selection as of now, we'll see when it comes." Basically he has swept the lack of wins in past 3 series under carpet very easily.
veer Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Dhoni made the right moves.. but didnt pay off.. as he said, its just an off day for Yuvi.. and give some credit to Lankans as well. Consequence: Yuvi will be dropped from the next squad... Let it go folks... Dont need to dissect it any further..
vvvslaxman Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Dhoni made the right moves.. but didnt pay off.. as he said, its just an off day for Yuvi.. and give some credit to Lankans as well. Consequence: Yuvi will be dropped from the next squad... Let it go folks... Dont need to dissect it any further.. There is nothing to dissect. As a fan i can overcome in a day. But i can't forget the face of Virat Kohli as the horror show unfolded at the other end. I feel for Virat Kohli more than Yuvraj Singh.
rkt.india Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Dhoni made the right moves.. but didnt pay off.. as he said, its just an off day for Yuvi.. and give some credit to Lankans as well. Consequence: Yuvi will be dropped from the next squad... Let it go folks... Dont need to dissect it any further.. It was not a right move sending Yuvraj ahead of Raina. We were struggling in SF too when Yuvraj was batting. We already had a slow start in final and Raina needed to come in who could starting playing shots get go. We did not lose match just because of 17-20 overs but also because of what we did 11-16. When we had a decent but slowing start, we needed an acceleration after 10 overs which never happened. Dhoni's mentality is to rely on last 4-5 over to score maximum runs but with Malinga there, it backfired.
