I dont know Why- But i get a feeling that Umesh will be called in for England Tests and will get to PLay ..I dont know why and How? Umesh has already Taken 3 wickets in the first ODI and narrowly missed grabbing the MOM award in the first ODI. if he grabs 5 to 6 wickets in the Next 2 Odi's( 3 in second and 2 in third) there are good chances that he may be picked ahead of Any or called in as a replacement of any guy who gets Hurt.....I wud surely want Umesh ahead of Pankaj, ISHwar , ishant but Alas I am not the SELECTOR...

Seriously what the feck is wrong with them? Ind have swept the floor with some of the Eng teams over the years, this present team is not their weakest by any stretch..they will beat India soundly. Yeah but UY exclusion is completely mental.

It is pretty clear from the past that the captain is against his inclusion and I don't see how that would change.

Either he is too carefree about selections or he does not want him. This is the same captain who once threatened to resign if RP Singh was not selected or Irfan Pathan a few years back. Shami, BK, Umesh would have been an ideal attack for English condition. All 3 can swing the ball, 2 can clock good speeds too and third one is the most accurate of them and an bowl long spells.

England unleash 4 fast bowlers(no talk of needing a trundler to hold an end up) and they clean SL up. Why was plunkett slected? Was he top wicket taker in county last year? No. Was he top wicket taker this year? No They picked him cos they heard he was bowling FAST!! Was quickest bowler on county circuit in reports they were getting, so picked him on that basis. Did he he get plenty ofwickets in 1st test? No. Did he bowl that well? No. Did he bowl quick? Yes So they said no worries bowl quick, we will back you. We value pace . Bowl quick it will come good! saneindian Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Did Plunkett have a FC average of 67+? Has he been picked only because he is FAST or also because he's shown in last 15 months that he can take FC wickets? BTW in the 1st test Plunkett was bowling a lot faster on an average than he did on a helpful surface with good bounce, here he would have been around 85-86 mph occasionally hitting 90-91 mph, at Lord's he was around 88-89 and regularly hitting 90 mph. Maybe bowling FAST alone isn't the solution but accuracy (and ability to move the ball) matters a little bit as well
