Kohli on the importance of fast bowlers :hatsoff:

"It is always a good thing to have good fast bowlers in the team especially in Test cricket," Kohli said. "If you can have 3-4 seamers in your squad who are attacking bowlers and can pick you wickets at any stage during the day, then it is a bonus for any side. When we start going away from home, it is going to help us big time. The more the guys understand how to pick up wickets and how to set batsmen up, it is going to be really good for us.

Sides will know that these are not easy runs for the taking, they will have to work hard given the way our fast bowlers are bowling. It gives us more strength as a team having fast bowlers in rhythm and confidence and that's something we always believe in doing in the team, giving our bowlers more importance and telling them they are the match-winners."

Any updates on Shami's injury? The test squad for Australia series will be picked today. As per Kumble's policy any injured player making a comeback has to play a domestic game to prove his match fitness. Shami is not part of any team in the ongoing SMA trophy games. Will be interesting to see if they make an exception for the best Indian fast bowler for this important series.

His father died recently and hence he wasn't perhaps involved in the SMA trophy.

He will probably be picked in the squad and also Rohit but both will or could play Vijay Hazare trophy games which start 3 days after the start of first test,  if not rated fit enough for the first test, so they could come back into the team for 2nd test.

His father's demise has nothing do with him being not in SMA trophy. He was not fit and was still undergoing rehab in NCA. He went back home for a day when his father died and came back next day at NCA. I doubt he will be picked for Aus series at least for first two tests. If he is picked then it will be subject to his fitness and might play warm-up.

That is why I said "both will or could play Vijay hazare... if not rated fit for first test"

Shastri asking Ishant,  "  You bowled some mean short balls  "

Ishant, " When you are the No.1 test side, you have to show it, you have to be aggressive "

Perfect attitude for a fast bowler       :nice:

Umesh is missing some of this attitude. Zaheer had loads of it even when he was slower in his later years. Ishant picked it up from Zaheer.
