This TM invariably want a bowling AR at 8 to cover for the fragile top 3 who won't be dropped.

 

With the WC in India, they would want a wrist spinner and we don't have any wrist spinner AR who can bat at 7 or 8.

 

If Bishnoi or Rahul Chahar could tonk a few at 8, we could leave out the seam AR.  

 

As it stands, the bowling composition is likely to be

 

6. Hardik

7. Spin AR .. Washington / Jadeja

8. Seam AR .. Chahar / Shardul

9. Wrist spinner .. Kuldeep / Chahal / Bishnoi 

10. Pacer .. Bumrah / Siraj 

11. Pacer .. Umran / Sen / Prasidh

Fast bowling depth in this NZ tour squad is grim...  Arshdeep will play all three games,   maybe Umran too after that debut. 

Only Chahar can possibly replace Shardul. 

 

But the elephant in the room is Indian spinners.  Washy was amazing & created so much pressure.  It was a shame Dhawan couldn't use him in tandem with Umran. 

Chahal bowled with Umran mostly & released all that pressure Umran was creating in a 6 over non stop spell. 

Chahal has to go but he is in BD tour squad as well. 

Kuldeep will be dicey in small Hamilton ground but at least he can pick wickets.

Mavi 4 fer vs Mumbai... Strong performance from Tyagi as well. 

UP's pace battery is awesome...  Add in Yash Dayal Mohsin there it is legit world class. 

Meanwhile Kerala has benched KM Asif as I see & might be in serious trouble vs J&K.

Shivam Mavi gets zip of the pitch even when he is not bowling that quick and has a delivery that comes quickly into the right hander. 

 

Only if he could bowl at the pace he used to in his earlier days. He would have been a very good prospect for India. Still everything is not lost. He should concentrate on bowling with pace as he also have skills to bowl with new ball as well as old ball. He should not waste his talent and be satisfied with bowling line and length and more importantly stop listening to Boobie bhaiya.

Chodu Zaheer and surprisingly Agarkar who seems level headed said either you wil have pace or control. I mean these are relatively newly retired cricketers who have played t20s are believing this BS than less said about Chetan and company.

I remember how khaleel have a chat with zaheer whn he bust in to the team and than completely started trundling. Hope these zaheers and Bhuvis never become bowling coach.

There was a Cricviz study which showcased the most accurate pacers in the last 15 years .... and Bumrah was 10th on that list while averaging 139.2 kph in his test career (  which is a very high average career speed in test cricket )

I was listening to Shane Bond & Stevenson in Commentary I guess it was Spark sports feed..  They were enjoying Umran's bowling.  Bond was so hyped to see him. 

 

Even I heard Doull was praising him more than Indians & said he was amazing on debut as he is learning on the job. 

Murli Kartik is a mediocre cricketer who has zero insights to offer..  And is part of lobbying

Yes. I saw that video that you posted on your YouTube channel. In today's match it looked like he wasn't exactly bending his back much and was bowling within himself. It will be good for him and for Indian cricket if he starts bowling quick again.

Didn't looked that quick today...  Probably was early 140's...  Tyagi looked menacing meanwhile.

K sen looks quicker or equal in pace to Tyagi as of now but quicker than Mavi I feel.

These are swing experts , they will try them to swing the ball . Swing is not bad ,actually very very potent in this era of hitting through the line whatever might be the pace . The moment ball deviates both ways from a length they are at sea. But issue is that hardly white ball swings for 3-4 overs , A pacer need to have skills to bowl in middle over & death overs . My doubt even Paras the coach too more inclined towards swing . This may be fine for tests as ball does swing for a longer period .

Someone needs to grill these guys about bowling skills outside PP.  

Lot to learn how Styne used to bowl in Tests , Outswingers around 138-142 with new ball . Bowl very aggressive lengths with old ball at high pace even touching 150 including reversing it .
