Was a passenger for his last 3-4 years, but our side was so poor then that he still made the XI. He was a flamboyant opener for his era, India was the only team in early-mid 80s that would go at 5 rpo in the first 10 overs, even Greenidge and Haynes were very conservative, former was a quick scorer in tests but not ODIs. Srikkanth top scored in 83 final against the GOAT pace unit of all time, and also in 85 B&H final (when Shastri was playing a match losing knock), 2 of the most clutch knocks in Indian cricket history before Gambhir's masterclasses. He was anything but a coward against genuine pace, even used to play them without helmets. Wasim had his number by late 80s (still got smacked in a test in Chennai) but Imran and especially Qadir used to get bashed by him. He captained India in only 4 tests and drew all 4 in Pakistan. He is an idiot, garbage analyst who keeps changing his opinion. In his latest video he was praising Rana. Don't think there is any agenda in his words, even Ashwin would get badly scolded by him one day and praised the next, and Ash is a colleague and friend of his son, Anirudh (even recently scolded Ashwin over this Rana thing). Remember the time when CSK finished at the bottom and Dhoni made a comment about CSK youngsters lacking spark, Srikkanth did an entire segment making fun of Dhoni in the most brutal way for that (only Yograj has spoken about Dhoni like that).....but he also kisses Dhoni's ass a lot. Pretty sure he has bipolar disorder. Also talks a lot, I mean a lot, with loose tongue, should stay away from YT, never mind broadcast. Edited October 27, 2025 by Gollum Vk1 and New guy 2

I always believe that a champion in one era will always be a champion in another (Benaud's words from the EA game). There are old era nostalgiatards for whom no can match WG Grace, there are those who started watching post pandemic who laugh at cricket videos from the times of black and white TV. But every champion must have done something that distinguished him or her from peers of his/her era. Don Bradman used to bat with the cricket stump against golf balls, Dhyan Chand learnt ball control by dribbling with raw eggs... finesse. Put a Sobers or Viv in modern era, or Sachin in 80s...they all would have trained accordingly and still dominated. Same with bowlers, people may try to look down upon Bumrah, Cummins, Rabada types citing weak defensive game of modern batsmen, but these same guys would have matched Lillee, Marshall, Hadlee bowling to batsmen in 70s/80s, batsmen without as much protection, and without the attacking game to throw these guys off. Gollum Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 “So today Harshit Rana deserves all the praise. I am very happy for you. Yes, I criticized you a lot but at the end of the day, you’ve done very well. He has got his confidence back from the last match after scoring with the bat and from his first spell with the ball. The more he performs this way, his confidence will continue growing. Today he looked like a very confident bowler,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel. “Harshit Rana bowled superbly. Taking four wickets in an ODI is a big achievement. My favourite was the wicket of Owen. It was a superb delivery and Rohit took a great catch. He bowled a terrific line and length. Last match he got clobbered at the death but this game, he bowled very well even at the death. He didn’t bowl short today and didn’t try too many slower ones,” he added. Kris Srikkanth eats his words after Harshit Rana’s Sydney heroics Agenda merchants don't operate like this, only passionate/emotional fans (and those who are bipolar) do. tapandrun Posted October 27, 2025 Posted October 27, 2025 (edited) All Ind experts, ex-player, commentators are same. They do not add any value to the conversation about the the game. They all repeat the same old lines. They do not analyze the game properly, they can not tell what is wrong with certain player and how can they fix it. Sometimes it could be that they do not want to speak ill or something that is perceived as bad, fearing sm backslash. And they keep making weird comments. Gavaskar, Srikant, Gambhir all falls in same category. Even Ashwin can not tell what is wrong and how to fix it. He tell what is right but not what is wrong. Saw few podcast of Uttappa on yt, he does not add anything to the conversation, it does not even look like he has played some professional cricket. When he should be the best person , have come through the system played U-19 wc in an era where it was easy to get Ind cap after U19 WC. All this IPL started in front of him, he made complete change to his batting technique. Which made him better batter but took away power game. Look at Aus commentator when they are talking about the game in Odis and test. They can tell what is wrong how that can be fixed. Yes their t20 commentary is different but that is understandable, there is no time to discuss all that in t20s Edited October 27, 2025 by tapandrun Rightarmfast, express bowling and singhvivek141 2 1

But I never said he was scared or bad against genuine pace.. Did I? Read again. He was bad against genuine good bowling. And yes, his success rate was very small. So, even if he tried slogging, and he would score fast, those would mostly be like in single digits or below 30. The opening used to be pathetic for India. How many consecutive matches did India score over 5 runs an over in the 1st 10 overs of a match? That sample size should be very very small. I have not checked, and I might be wrong, but my memory for sure isnt failing and I remember him disappointing almost always. His captaincy was pretty bad. You need to check the matches and articles of that era. And if he was so passionate about cricket, why was he so biased in selection? He has always been a selfish selfish man!

They do not analyze the game properly, they can not tell what is wrong with certain player and how can they fix it. Three things work against them. BCCI's autocracy which can soft ban anyone for even being mildly critical of some protected star players, coaches, BCCI. Do you think any of our guys can criticize BCCI's obvious shortcomings and get away with it? PR fan armies of some of these cricketers....absolutely brutal who will make rape/murder threats against your family, even kids, and then go unpunished. Why lose mental peace over this? Low IQ of most Indian fans in general, short attention span, demand for mediocrity instead of intellectual stimulation. Eng, Aus commentators can be themselves for most part. But India itself runs like this, where dissent, accountability, asking questions have a steep price. You have a PM who hasn't given one unscripted PC for the last 12 years, can you name another democracy that runs like this? Truth be told, we are closer to North Korea and some of the Gulf states than we are to the free world. Just to be in good books of the authorities, to avoid ED troubles, celebs, sportpersons are forced to take part in cringe pro-Modi/govt songs and wish him on his birthday as if he is their papa. Btw most regional satraps also indulge in this cult of personality theatrics and are brutal against those who don't bend their knees, for those coming at me I will say that Mamata, Lalu, Stalin, Jagan etc. are as bad or worse, this is a failing of our country/society as a whole. In such an ecosystem, how can one even hope for any intellectual content? Some of our experts are no less than the goras when it comes to knowledge and presentation. The spin masterclass Ashwin once gave to Sky in 2018 tour is better than the careers of many experts, Swann was out of words when he saw that. But who has time for such stuff in India? Our people won't last 30 seconds if they come across such videos. They want useless gossip, bematlab ke comparisons, jingioistic nonsense, montages of their superstar, hero worship, favorite food or movie of the players. Sports Yaari and other channels reflect what our public demands and enjoys. Edited October 27, 2025 by Gollum Rightarmfast 1
