Crookbond Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 The title is one of the biggest freeloaders ever....I threw in some ICC titles in that process which might have been debatable....SO what is the consensus of him having a free ride over 5 T20 Wc's.....as I said I am not stuck on Tontee-Tontee.....I have my reasons to form this opinion....I will repsent my argument for other formats too. I already told you my opinion on Dhoni being in the T20 side. In ODIs, there is no way you can call him a "freeloader". It is very difficult to present your opinion on any cricketer for that format. The term "freeloader" is extremely strong - someone like a Mike Brearley who averaged 20 odd as a batsman and played 31 Test matches as a captain can't be called a "freeloader" due to his captaincy.

Has 19 Notouts,822 runs out of 49 games.Runs per match are less than 17 but a misleading bloated average. I repeat he has captained us in not 1,2 5T20 Wc's.....If that isn't freeloading what is? WIll get into other formats soon Totally agree, post 2007 WT20- he's been a horrible t20 player and captain and has been primarily responsible for our poor performances. Promoting Jaddu ahead of Yuvi in 2009WT20 and persisting with Yuvi in 2014WT20 allied with his batting no shows are classic examples

Dhoni is miles ahead of any wicketkeeper batsman we have and is here to stay for more 2-3 years. Is the OP implying we could have won all these series with just any WK in the team.

I knew some wise guy would say that. But those were the old days - post economic boom we have had a surplus of batting talent. Dhoni is holding back better options like Saha, uday kaul. Did something similar in ct 2009 when we had pak on the ropes,bowled part timers to Malik and moyo till they got settled in,but back then he didn't blame anyone as he was still relatively new in the role.

The problem with dhoni is when ever a bowler is bowling well in odi, he stops him expecting that bowler to bottle that good spell when bowling at death. His mind starts racing ok now this guy will bottle this spell and repeat it after 35 overs so let me get part timers we will finish them b4 they settle in doing that he fails to realize that he had screwed up in every aspect, the first bowler once he returns will not effective , part timers let those new comers settle easily .India leak 330 plus and if Virat fails to show up in chase India loses the match.l In Tests he does exactly opposite if a bowler is bowling well (because he is so used to spinners he treats fast bowler also the same) he bowls them to death in that spell expecting him to run thru batting lineup forgetting the need to keep them fresh for later spells. In essence he does opposite in odis and tests .we have to thank luck stars pommies were bigger morons otherwise ishant was done and dhoni had nothing as backup. They were cruising to win.

Its the post economic boom which has resulted in such technically superior future greats such as Saha, Kaul, Ojha, Karthik. But if I am not wrong, that logic should apply only to wicketkeepers because now more and more people can afford those gloves. Dont think that we will ever find replacements for THE Fab 4 cuz they were once in a lifetime cricketers. :proud:
