no reason why ashwin cant be cap one day. But for now, kohli/gambhir best option with guys like ashwin and pujara offering ideas

First secure a place in the side then think about Kaptaani. My personal choice though would be Gambhir (if he can come back and perform well) or Pujara.

No one backing Vijay? He has shown plenty of fight and is the oldest member in the current X1 after Dhoni. I think he could do a decent job as a transitionary captain for 1-2 years before Pujara or Kohli or whoever becomes more mature and more stabilized at test level.

He is far better than Kohli and likes, surely smart enough to carry the whole pressure. Again Captain is judged based on results, so i dont think he will get proper support from current players if he is made to captain right now, so after one or two series loss he will be thrown out from captaincy. Better not to give captaincy to him.

Ashwin is not yet a permanent member of the playing x1 yet but if he does in a year or so,I think he can make a fine captain.. I think he's an intelligent and a tactically gifted bloke who has got potential but first things first,get ur place cemented in the playing X1

If Ashwin can secure a spot. I also think he'd make a good tactical captain. Not sure what his man-management skills are like and whether he can motivate the team on the field

This guy can not even motivate himself to run a quick two while batting or chase the ball from slips to the boundary. I wouldn't count on him motivating anyone. Even though he is making a strong case to be included as a top order batter in our test side with his recent exploits.

No experience. It will be tough. But i have seen Azharuddin, Vengsarkar as captains.. Just lifting hands up and down mechanically was all they did most of the time. . Ashwin is a notch above that. Key aspect in Indian cricket is man management. But i want someone with ironhanded approach ala Clive Lloyd of the 80s. who forged a team that conquered the world for more than a decade.

Pujara has captained India A.Infact he played for India A even when his place in main team was secure,reason given was that he was being groomed for captaincy.Its only logical he gets it. Ashwin first has to start performing overseas

He has to do well as a bowler first and cement his place overseas. He seems to be a good thinking cricketer but no idea if he could be a good captain and how he could manage a team, strategize on the field or handle the pressure of being a captain. I don't think he has even captained his state side or A team or even a practice game before.

Not a good 'leader'. He's a good tactician from what I have seen and heard. Sunny thinks otherwise anyhow.
