Good thread. If they can't do anything about the size of the bat, tampering with the cricket ball should be legalized.

(a) more bouncers maybe 3 an over are ok (b) bigger boundaries (though i dont think its an issue with this WC and the grounds in question) © Shelling the two new ball rule. The reverse which pacers used to get post 35 overs is gone. Sides are just starting sedately and then smashing their way in the last 35. Even today SA were 157/3 in the 30 overs. WI did tie them down in the first 10. A lot of people are forgetting that the mentality of batsman has changed post T20. Every ball is there to be hit. In the final 90 balls 12 runs per over or 2 per ball is considered average. That means provided wickets are in hand, all a side has to do is reach 120-130 in the first 35 overs and there is a good chance they will reach 300. Sides also bat deep now a days. WI may have been tonked today but so many times Russell and Sammy down the order have pulled WI to 300 plus totals from nowhere. Gone are the days when bowlers could not bat. Now a days batsman can bowl and bowlers can bat. Each side contains atleast 2-3 utility players who can bat and bowl. You cant legislate for the above changes in mentality and composition of sides. Even a wicket keeper is expected to bat and hold a good average. The days of Nayan Mongia are long gone.

Batsmen friendly pitches should produce 300 to 320 scores and something extraordinary batting any bowling lapses push the score past 350. A bowling friendly pitch can be one where 200 is competitive. I dunno why it's seen as more boring by people to see a vicious spinner off the pitch cut a batsman in half or a searing delivery curl past the blade than a batsman step out for a rollicking six or an inside out cover drive to an inswinging delivery but I'd see both in a match...

No ODI batsman should have an average over 50 or strike rate over 90-95 (with an average over 40). Watching the bowlers get hit every other ball isn't entertaining.

I think it was changed in 2012 to two bouncers per over for ODIs and 1 for T20s.

I think if a batsman can do switch hit or reverse sweep, if a bowler is skilled enough can do switch hand while delivering ball, I mean without informing umpire, also sporting tracks should be allowed, rather than 1990 's type rule, cricket needs 90's type pitches, the same abdv was done by Mcgrath , asif and so many bowlers a lot of time, also semi new bowl in 35th over is a good idea, also increase the size of boundaries from 70 mtrs, to 85-90 mtrs.

All said and done mentality of cricketers has changed. Kapil dev even in the 80s had a strike rate of 90. So did Richards. We have to live with that. Odd occasions we would see spell like southee's spell

Kapil Dev didn't have a very high batting average so his high strike rate is understandable. Richards should have been an exception because he was a brilliant batsman. Nowadays we see batsman not nearly as good having better strike rates.

Dhoni was so right this 4 fielders is very unfair for fielding sides.Batting sides are now doubling their score after 35 overs if they have strong platform.That is just ridiculous. Morons at ICC need to understand unless ball swings the two new balls will help batting rather bowling sides. Hardly any chases in this cup by top 8 teams, Ireland chase was the most impressive. AB is good but 66 balls 162 runs is not only ridiculous but it is just absurd.

In that era 250 was a very very good score. Averge of 24 was not that bad in that era. Besides the point is even in that era we could witness whirlwind innings once in a while. Frequency has increased because attitude has changed due to introduction of T20 besides bigger bats, flatter pitches, more innovations etc. When i say attitude the batsman won't go after bowling until the last 2 or 3 overs in that era. Very often first 10 overs would result in 25 for 1 or 30 for 0. Mindset has changed completely. Even in that era srikkanth was able to exhibit you can go hammer and tongs upfront.
