Tiger80 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 NEW DELHI: Union minister of state Giriraj Singh has courted fresh controversy with his sexist remarks aimed at Congress president Sonia Gandhi wondering if Congress would have accepted Sonia Gandhi's leadership if she was not white-skinned, a statement condemned by the party which asked the Prime Minister to dismiss him and apologize to the nation. Talking to the media after his comments sparked a huge controversy, Giriraj said his comments were made to be "off the record." "People say all kinds of things off the record. But if Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were hurt by my remarks, then I apologize," he said without really making any direct apology. If I have hurt anyone's sentiments including Sonia ji & Rahul ji, I regret what I said: Giriraj Singh to ANI pic.twitter.com/KsJBYTBWkp — ANI (@ANI_news) April 1, 2015 Giriraj's comments during a meeting in Bihar's Hajipur district on Tuesday earlier went viral. In the video he is seen saying, "If Rajiv Gandhi would have married a Nigerian lady instead of white-skinned girl, would Congress party have accepted her leadership?" If Rajiv Gandhi would've married a Nigerian & Sonia wasn't white-skinned,would Cong have accepted her: Giriraj Singh https://t.co/9ptvBpvZAD — TIMES NOW (@TimesNow) April 1, 2015 "The comments reflect the lack of moral fibre in the BJP. It appears that the continuous quest to appease Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made him lose his balance," Randeep Singh Surjewala, Congress' spokesperson said. Various women leaders also attacked Singh, who is minister of state for micro, small and medium enterprises, saying it reflected his racial mindset and attitude towards women. Singh's comment follows Goa CM Laxmikant Parsekar's alleged advice to nurses where he advised them to refrain from protesting under the sun as it would hurt their marital prospects. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Had-Rajiv-married-a-Nigerian-instead-of-a-white-skinned-woman-would-Cong-have-accepted-her-Giriraj-Singh/articleshow/46768183.cms Media is making lot of noise about this comment as sexist, I don't understand how it is sexist. Had Priyanka Gandhi married an African and the guy wanted to make a career in politics it could have been very difficult .It is bitter truth of Indian society that they will hardly accept African person as leader
Raghav_12 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Girraj will be further promoted by ModiJi for these remarks.
bulbul Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Girraj will be further promoted by ModiJi for these remarks. Hi Raghavjee how are you? meeting over?
Number Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 :hysterical: Idiot. What he said is not far from truth but some things are better not spoken.
gattaca Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Girraj will be further promoted by ModiJi for these remarks. At least he wont be fired for no reason.
Yoda-esque Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Had some pseudo-liberal written this on Twitter, people would have applauded this as showing a mirror to society
ravishingravi Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I am still trying to think. Isn't this a reality ? Atleast in India.
diga Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 India is sexist/racist/misogynist.. from DiggiRaja to Sharad Yadav to Sanjay Nirupam to Giriraj
ravishingravi Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Girraj will be further promoted by ModiJi for these remarks. I recall another leader found of Africans promoted as senior minister by yours truly
vvvslaxman Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 :hysterical: Idiot. What he said is not far from truth but some things are better not spoken. +1 As i said in another thread all these bozos have to undergo cultural sensitivity training. Not everyone has the ability to make the politically correct statement all the time if they are left to think on their own. I would say each party is responsible for their own members.
BeautifulGame Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Kiran Bedi has absolutely smashed Giriraj Singh .More or less called him disgrace for the country .Isnt she still in BJP?
Clarke Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Diggy Raja of BJP, infact substantially worse given that he hasn't been around for long.
sticky wicket Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Speaks the truth, most Indians worship white skin and have negative views on africans despite hardly numbering to any percentage, there is always some news monthly on some unfortunate African student somewhere in India being victim of racist attack, hardly hear anything untoward racist attack against whites. Rahul Gandhi marrying a Nigerian can say good buy to his brainwashed voters.
amiret Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 typical hideous NaMoRON. It his own insecurity , low self-esteem and slavish Colonial mindset that makes him judge people on the basis of skin color.
adi B Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 What he said is true,India is a racist country.the view point of even the most educated folks in the urban cities about the blacks(usually africans) is pathetic and shameful
Texan Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Exactly' date=' what's wrong with his question?[/quote'] Congress has no answer to that question, but we all what the answer would be. Yes, the remark can be perceived to be in bad taste, but it just brings out the reality in India.
Texan Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Hi Raghavjee how are you? meeting over? :cantstop: Some people are like Bangladesh cricket fans. When their team causes one upset, they will troll like anything. But when their team is getting batttered and bruised, they will disappear into obscurity. And when opposition team is under fire, they will make their comeback :winky:
jalebi_bhai Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Yes' date=' [b']the remark can be perceived to be in bad taste, but it just brings out the reality in India. Depends on whose moral compass we are using :giggle:
