My amazing day in Srilanka yesterday at SSC ground, Colombo.

What an awesome day I had in Srilanka, people watching India win against Srilanka in SSC ground, Colombo. One of the most memorable day this year for me. I was at Colombo for few days with my friend for a business trip. Didn't had much to do after finishing our work and we decided to go to watch the last day of the third test match. We decided it only after 9.45. Had breakfast, got a taxi and rushed to SSC ground. Just 30 minutes travel from our hotel. Reached the stadium at 10. 45. We thought the ticket price will be higher. But surprisingly the prices were very cheap. Just 300 rupees ( 150 rupees in Indian money). The ticket office guy suggested the top stand and said the view will be good from there. He was very friendly and the ticket office was small and the guy was very friendly.. We noticed one guy was selling Flags outside the stadium. We asked if he has Indian flag, he was also very friendly and joked with us that we don't need Indian flag as we are going to lose the match. Lol. The security guards were all smiles and didn't even check our camera and no metal detectors.... Nothing.. They were all smiles and saying good morning to us.. Entered the stadium. The stand was right above the players dressing room.. We entered the top stand climbing stairs.. The stairs were very small and looked really beautiful and kinda old.. We reached the stand and found its just a beautiful small stand and just some 70- 80 people were sitting there.. The ground was beautiful as well from the top.. I was so excited to see our boys playing... By the time we entered, Lanka had already lost 4 wickets and we went and sat in the first row. The view was fantastic. One Aussie dude sat with us and started saying stuff about ishanth Sharma and he said that fast bowlers like Dennis Lillie were also little mad as a fast bowler.. We started watching the match.. Lanka lost the 5th wicket. My Tamil friend who was sitting with started cheering loudly and got few filthy stares from Lankan fans.. Lol.. I was just enjoying being there and watching the match.. Perara came in with an intent and started playing some beautifully with Mathews. Lankan fans were cheering for every single run.. We didn't get any wicket for a while.. My friend started getting irritated.. Lol. Kohli was showing his frustration and throwing the cricket ball at the ground angrily... Few girls sitting behind were talking about Kohli and I was surprised to find that they knew about Anushka Sharma and they were giggling about it.. I couldn't understand what they were saying, but they were definitely speaking about kohli and Anushka.. Lunch break.. Went outside and found a small shop selling food. I got a coke and few biscuit pockets and entered the stadium again.. My friend was just sitting there taking a nap.. As I entered the stadium, I saw the Sudeep dude ( the guy who paints his body with Indian flag) but I couldn't catch him because he entered the entrance very fast and he was sitting in a different stand.. Started watching the match again.. It was scorching hot, was sweating a lot, but we didn't bother for a second.. We were happy being there... Mathews was playing beautifully and I joined Lankan fans and started cheering for Mathews and my friend was staring at me for doing that.. Lol.. As soon as Mathews scored a century, everyone in our stand stood up and applauded him.. I was just whistling and cheering.. I was discussing with my friend and wondering why Kohli didn't take the new ball after 75th over.. Tea break.. Still no wicket.. Nothing happened... Then comes the surprise.. Kohli got the new ball even before he entered the ground and signaled to umpire that he will pick new ball.. I knew something was going to happen.. Perara played that idiotic reverse sweep shop and got out.. Mathews got out of ishanth Sharma.. My friend became mad. Lol.. Started celebrating loudly and got some nasty stares from Lankan fans.. Lol. I was really sad seeing Mathews getting out after playing so well.. After that, I too joined my friend and started cheering for India.. Wickets kept tumbling and our celebrations were getting noisier.. We didn't care who were staring at us.. We just cheered... Prasad ran in, played like a retard and got out..lol.. Mishra got the final wicket.. That's it.. We started clicking so many pictures and selfies.. It was fun.. After the last wicket fell down, most of the Lankan fans left our stand and only very few were there.. The presentation happened right in front of our stand.. We shouted every cricketer's name and most of them looked up at us and waved at us including Kohli.. My Tamil friend shouted " Ashwin Machan" .. " well bowled machan" he looked twice and waved at us..lol Presentation was over.. We came out of the stadium after they all went inside the dressing room.. As we came outside, the flag selling dude was there sitting.. I told him India won the match.. Lol. He was all smiles and gave us a Srilankan flag for free.. But we payed the money and got the flag from him.. We wanted to take few pictures with our cricketers.. We had no idea how to do it.. We asked the main entrance guy if we can enter inside and take pics. But he denied politely.. I found a car with " ICC official" written on it. I asked the car driver which hotel Indian cricketers were staying.. He spoke in Singhalese and we couldn't understand anything.. In between we heard the word " Taj Samudra" . I googled fast and found out its the biggest star hotel in Srilanka. Chop chop.. Got a taxi and reached the hotel in twenty minutes.. You can't just simply sit in the hotel lobby.. We ordered a cup of coffee and started sipping very slowly till we see our team. One and half hours went by, we were still sipping the coffee.. Lol.. Suddenly people got excited and I knew our team has reached.. Watched them very close.. Cheered everyone.. Only we both were shouting, lol. So,every cricketer acknowledged us... Got a picture with Ashwin.. But my friend couldn't take a picture with him and he was disappointed as he also a Tamil dude.. Ashwin was very down to earth and friendly.. They entered a room and cut the cake.. Now I took the camera and as soon as Ashwin came out, I asked another picture for my friend.. He recognized him and a took a picture with him.. My lucky bastard friend got lucky and took pictures with Bhajji and ishanth..lol That's it.. Everyone went inside.. High fived with Umesh yadav, varun Aaron on the way.. Although the security guards tried to stop they did a high five with me.. The security guards said everyone has left to their rooms.. We were very happy... We couldn't stop speaking about the lovely moments we had... We came to our hotel room.. Ordered a beer.. Logged in ICF.. Checked few posts... Happily went to sleep after dinner

Cool. The Indian fan who paints his body is Sudhir. 2nd new ball is due after 80 overs, not 75.

Great story! I too was in Sri Lanka a few years ago. Wonderful country. Some of the warmest people. It's probably my favorite Asian destination.
Thailand beats every other destination on pretty much every aspect , but SL is beautiful too . My favorite part was driving on these roads which run parallel to to the sea . People where surprisingly disciplined , complete opposite of Indian which was a surprsise
