Could a Legspinner have changed India's @ss-whupping in Oz?

Oz grounds are huge and the batsmen no means accomplished against spin.  I dont know why the ODI squad had zero legspinner in the squad.  This is a huge mistake by selectors - its not like we have nobody available.  Amit Mishra or Chahal or heck even fat boy piyush chawla could've gone.

Don't know why Mishra is not part of the squad. He has done well in whatever chances he has got. If the selectors wanted 3 spinners in Australia, Mishra would have been a much better pick than Axar. No point in having two similar spinners like Jaddu and Axar in the squad.

Any spinner having variation could have made fortune. This includes Amit Mishra or even Kuldeep Yadav.  This is a difference between Dhoni's team and Kohli's team. The latter always like to include a leg spinner.

Dunno why there is no leggie in the T20 squad too... Amit Mishra did tremendously well in the previous T20 WC.. India should look to play the 3 spinner combination again this WC.

Mishra was thrashed mercilessly by same Aussie batsmen in that 5 ODI series played in India. Pitches are flat, Mishra too wouldnt have done much.

Rishi Dhawan was never a big hope.

Actually credit to him, at least he did not embarass himself. With his speed, I expected him to be smashed. But, he did bowl okay.

It is a valid point. Leggies get more purchase in Australia than others. But these are absolute roads.  In a way it would have worked in our favor. But our middle and lower order is beyond pathetic to capitalize on these flat pitches.

No but he would have been better.before the squad was picked,I mentioned in one of the thread that india should pick either chahal/mishra and even drop ashwin if needed but we need to remember dhoni has his fix bowlers who he trusts and it's all upto him.

What we needed was a left-arm chinaman bowler like Hogg who's done well in general in Oz conditions. Pity we don't have such a spinner in domestic cricket... or do we? ;)
