Dhoni 's stupid captaincy

This pitch was different.  Turning square and no batsmen could play spin here till they were very well set.  Even then it was not easy.

Pakistani part time spinners got hammered.Only our quality spinners bowled well. Not sure u can assume even our part timers would have dominated them.

Agree Yuvi deserved to bowl ahead of Pandya  though but assuming he or Raina would have dominated is not certain

Bumrah's 3rd over went for 13 , it could had been easily replaced by Ashwin's

Bumrah has been very good for us and any bowler gets hit in this format. I have a problem with Pandya's 2nd over, not Bumrah. Bumrah is more dependable.

Even when Joginder Sharma bowled the last over, we thought we are doomed in 2007. But didn't he bring us glory?

It is easy to criticize, but you can't take away his record.

BcoZ bhaaji wasn't confident bowling against misbah

I really don't understand...Here we are not complaining Dhoni as a cricketer

....Dhoni as a captain is being discussed. I know Dhoni likes to gamble and most of his captaincy is based on instincts ,but today it was just weird not to see Ashwin not been given 4 overs to bowl.Win doesn't takes away captaincy loop holes.

Still, Joginder was inexperienced and that was his first tournament. But, that worked and we all hailed him. Now that things are not going his way, we are jumping asking for his head.

You cannot hide his moronic decisions based on that

You have a world number spinner , You have turning wicket , Your spinner is just going for 12 runs of 3 , the other team hardly have any batsmen known for playing spin well ,the other over you have given to medium pacer is just went ofor 15  now which logic tell that you don't give that spinner 4th over, Bumrah is good but still any captain would have preferred him over Bumrah

Lol Joginder could have been successful because of the "streak"

Someone usually somehow performs superbly to give Ind a victory in the world events vs. Pak

I have said this before, I was surprised that Ashwin did not bowl 4 overs. I agree with you there.

Maybe, but success was never guaranteed just because we were playing Pakistan. In fact, mood in the ICF since Tuesday was pointing that the streak will end today, not to be though.

^ See the over yourself, Pak needed 6 of 4 balls .... And look at Misbah's shot at the point

This time we almost handed the game to Pak on a platter .... Kholi stepped it up this time (somewhat reminded my of Sidhu's knock in '96) :proud:

Dhoni must be a stupid captain. After all he has just captained and lead his team to win 6 games out of 6 in World Cups across formats.

Anyone with an ounce of a brain would have won at least 8 games out of those 6. How incredibly stupid of Dhoni after all!

What winning and/or losing have to do with someone being a good or bad captain? Patuadi has lost more than what he has won but is regarded as one of the best captains .... If winning decides how good a captain is, Ponting must be the best captain ever in the world - Link

Dhoni has been one of the best captains India ever had and I would actually pick Dhoni to lead an India ATG XI. But today he did mess up or maybe second guessed himself by underbowling spinners. Ashwin didn't complete his quota, Raina bowled only one and Yuvraj wasn't even tried even when pacers were struggling in the middle overs. Pak did get 12-15 extra runs thanks to overbowling pacers and anyone who watched today's game would've seen that.

This was a perfect pitch to let Yuvi bowl vs right handers.Letting pacers bowl just gave their batsmen pace and allowed them to get into rhythm. The way the ball was turning,it was looking like a nightmare to face any spinner on this track. We were lucky they had 4 seamers and not spinners.I couldn't believe when Dhoni said in press conference,if he had known pitch will turn,he would have played extra spinner. He didn't even bowl the ones he had and didn't even complete Ashwin's quota.Paki batsmen were all at sea against the spinners.Constant pressure from spinners would have made them crumble under 90 runs.If he keeps continuing sending Raina at 4,we have a tough time ahead.

Exactly. What many don't realize is that a bad call can allow the other team to get into a rhythm, which could potentially turn the game.

It is not about xyz giving 2 more runs or things such as even abc can bowl 2 overs so it is ok to pack the team with such players .... But that by doing such things, you can allow the opposition to get into rhythm and gain momentum.

When it comes to bowling, if a captain plays / bowls horses for courses, it give the team that additional chance of bowling more balls that can pick up wkts and therefore not allow the other team to get into a rhythm.
