express bowling Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) The new generation of players, who are developing as cricketers after T20s have become popular , bat at a much higher strike rate on an average. Sarfraz Khan showed it today with his 35 n.o off 10 deliveries with SR of 350 . Guys like Pandya, Iyer, Bista, Hooda, Pant, Kishan, etc. would all fall into this category. We need more such players in our LOI teams as and when they become ready for international cricket. LOIs have changed in the last 3 years and have become a much more high SR game...we need to adapt to that. Edited April 12, 2016 by express bowling doccricket, diehardpacer and tweaker 3
vayuu1 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 You don't need all hacks not a good thing, A mix of Sarfaraz, hooda, pandya, iyer, sky, nair, jadhav will be very good tweaker 1

Came in at 27 for 3. Scored 51 off 89 deliveries in a low scoring match and build an innings in a difficult situation in a very critical match. He played quite a few other 70+ knocks in that tournament. tweaker, doccricket and diehardpacer 3

The list was just an example of a few new-age players who usually bat at a very high SR. While choosing top order batters, say those who may come in at no.1 to no. 4, we have to look for proper batsmen .....those who are decent against pace, bounce, swing, seam and spin. High SR is an additional criteria to suit the modern LOI game. While choosing batsmen no. 6 to no.7 or 8...maybe even no.5 in T20is...we have to look at real big hitters ( who can hit pacers too ) and bat at very high SR. Out current team has many hacks like Raina, Dhawan etc. Yuvi is not the player he once was. New batters are needed in these slots. I would like them to be new-age, high SR batters, whoever they maybe. Edited April 20, 2016 by express bowling doccricket and tweaker 2

U 19 is boys cricket and IPL is domestic cricket which can only show the potential, at the most. Hardik was a big failure as an all rounder whereas he was a big hit in IPL last year. So they need to prove in A tours before considered for team India, whatever format. That should be the correct strategy.

Yes he wasnt a failure n still had few gud bowling perfomances 3/8 against pak isnt bad , wkts were of tail or watever. On indian wkts u wnt a seaming all rounder of his type do excedinlgy well, dnt put him in Flintoff, moriss category they are tall and ball 145-150. Even stokes got carted around i dnt see Eng ppl going after him PPl going after pandya , just wanna ask one thing to them. So Pandya who has just played one season of domestic n one season IPl plays 2 cameos and at 7 u cnt do more than that and few decent bowling perfomances. Bowling- 3/8 (pak),2/26 sri lanka, 2/29(bang), 2/36(aus). N in few games his one over spoiled his figures and in t20 we have forgteen bowler will get hit. So basically he has 3-4 decent perfomances post aus tour Now count to No of perfomances of dhawan, raina, rahana, rohit and mind u these guys have played Yrs of International n domestic cricket. ull Find 2-3 perfomances max of each guy. But yet we are after a guy who is still learning, has a huge lack of exp . He will make mistakes n thats when he ll learn. Let him make his mistakes. If we have to have a go at someone go on guys like raina, dhawan, rohit, rahane, jadeja who after all these yr of exp failed to deilver and specially as senior players. Dnt go one someone new . tweaker and doccricket 2

This is the mindset I'm against. I want players matured to come in Indian team. In my earlier post too, I was talking about selection policy, not any plsayer in specific. International cricket is not a place to learn your cricket. You should learn it in domestic cricket and then at A level. When you are selected for India, you should be a finished product or nearly a finished product. That was my opinion.

Fair enough i completely agree that player shud come in team when fully matured n pandya does look far away from maturity but his case is also diff We dnt have a seaming all rounder others one r binny n dhawan he does crank up till 140 another rarity A bloody gud fielder Can hit long n we need a lower order hitter. So he is kind off need , unfortunately we dnt have groomed watson morris flintoff n all tweaker 1

You wont really get readymade International class players. Even Kohli took 2 years before he started doing, was dropped after 15 games. doccricket and tweaker 2

Means everything in the basics is intact and with a bit of proper direction, they evolve. Unfortunely, no one has as a seamer in my life time bar Zaheer to some extent. Otherwise everyone, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, Sachin, Sehwag evolved and now Kohli, Rahane. I have some doubts for Pujara. Hope he proves me wrong this season. But as for Hardik, even his basics for international cricketer is not intact. Edited April 29, 2016 by Chandan New guy 1
