Nova Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Quote The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has bought four bulletproof buses as it tries to convince other teams to shed their security apprehensions and visit the country. Pakistan has largely been shunned by teams since 2009 when gunmen attacked a bus carrying Sri Lankan cricketers, injuring six players and killing six security personnel and two civilians. The incident has forced Pakistan to play their 'home' matches in the United Arab Emirates and the country has since remained starved of international cricket at home, barring Zimbabwe's limited-overs tour in 2015. "We have bought these four Coaster buses as part of our efforts to revive international cricket in the country," a PCB spokesman told ESPNcricinfo. "There will be high expectations from teams willing to visit Pakistan and we want to ensure that we provide them with the best possible arrangements. "Having these bulletproof vehicles would play a major part in convincing teams (about security arrangements)." The spokesman said the PCB wanted to host the final of the Pakistan Super League, the inaugural edition of which was held in UAE earlier this year. "We have to have discussions with the (overseas) players about their safety and security and I think this new addition in our security facilities will definitely give us an edge," the spokesman said. "Our ultimate goal is to revive international cricket, and we are doing our best to make sure we can." http://www.cricket.com.au/news/pakistan-cricket-team-bulletproof-buses-ensure-home-matches-tours-amir-shah/2016-07-16 This is a positive step by PCB and may help to lessen the apprehensions of international players to start touring Pakistan again. Overall the situation is still not safe. But every step helps. What do you think? tweaker 1
Adi_91 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 It is not just what happened to SL players in 2009. If a bomb explodes just outside the stadium like it did when Zim were there last year, it still is a huge concern. People will believe them when teams tour and there are no mishaps of any sort. And it takes time. Bullet proof buses won't do it. tweaker and Rasgulla 2
Forever Indian Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Is the bus also bomb proof? adi B and velu 2
Malcolm Merlyn Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 So bullet proof buses to convince people that Pakistan is safe?

Malcolm Merlyn Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Don't think any team visiting yet in near future... Then why waste money on these buses? Kickback scheme?
SLICKR392 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Well, this means PCB are telling the world 'Hey guys! there are chances you might get ambushed and shot, but we have got bullet-proof buses to minimize the chance of you getting popped by an AK.' New guy and velu 2

PSL will also have foreign players.Imagine this if 7-8 WI players play in PSL matches in Pakistan how will then WICB say we will not send team to Pakistan.
NameGoesHere Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Will they play French cricket inside the buses (if the ball touches the windows it's OUT guys!!)?
Vilander Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 If any team was flirting with the idea of visiting, now they wont given the threat perception being accepted by PCB itself. But there is nothing PCB can do to stop terrorism in Pak, poor guys its understandable why they are buying these bullet proof buses, its what they can do.

In the PSL the players request NOC from WICB and then make themselves available for a contract. IN case of WICB approved tour, they make themselves available for selection and WICB sends them to tour the country. WICB is informed in the former case, and responsible in the latter.

sourab10forever Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Should be planning to start a tours and travels division.
