Nova Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Marlon Samuels might call it quits to Test cricket due to low payment packages from WICB. Samuels told Cricbuzz, “The way how things are right now, it is forcing me to give it (Test cricket) up. If you look at the system now, we have more young players playing when we should have more senior players and a couple of young players.” Only Samuels and Darren Bravo can be considered experienced players in West Indies. The home side had a humiliating defeat at Antigua losing the match by an inning and 92 runs. Former West Indies’ wicketkeeper batsman Jeff Dujon said, “He’s talking about it and he’s thinking about it. We kind of discussed it this (July 23) morning. I don’t think he’s fully made his mind up yet. But he’s starting to feel like he wants to. It doesn’t make any sense. I don’t think he’s fully decided yet. He could very well have a very good series and decide that he wants to play against Pakistan in Dubai.” This might be another blow to West Indies test cricket as they will be losing another Test player due to WICB. Their star players Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo have been the previous victims of WICB. http://www.cricketcountry.com/news/marlon-samuels-to-quit-test-cricket-476315 tweaker 1

But as long as they are a full member of ICC, WI will continue to play with a depleted team. ICC gives test funding to full members. Players not interested, empty stadiums, indifferent cricket board...we have seen it all. The player pool for test selection has decreased dramatically. Don't see how this will change now. tweaker, diga and G_B_ 3
Stuge Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 If ICC provides funding then they should also help to sort this mess in WI cricket. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

And a few more of the T20 stars as well. Until the WI resolve their player-board issues, their cricket simply cannot start making the climb back from the edge of disaster.
Adi_91 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 An unimpressive cricketer, who cares if he quits. sourab10forever 1
Laaloo Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 The whole team plays cricket like they are retired anyways
maniac Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Despite his 2 T20 finals heroics....a largely unfilled talent But despite the obvious attitude issues, his commitment to WI cannot be questioned sandeep and adi B 2

Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk Unlike Zimbabwe or Afghan, Windies board have themselves to blame for their financial crisis. It's corrupt to the core. IMO, Samuels is massively underachieved. A big game player with killer mentality. Has been a better match winner than Gayle. Better to retire, than rather play alongside with these defective kids. Edited July 27, 2016 by SLICKR392
