I beg to differ. We are playing 5 genuine bowlers. 3 fast bowlers and 2 spinners. Thats the reason the Indians are doing well.

umesh bowled 6 overs ie 2 more than his allowed quota in a t20 game.

Let us not forget the first test when the 3 pacers were needed in the first innings ( 2 of them took 4 wickets each ) and then , in the 2nd innings, the spinners had to bowl a lot of overs.

A 149k bowler bowling way outside off stump is like a big boxer who is happy just beeing in the ring and not fighting...and later a weaker boxer wins as he hits a few blows.

 

149k bowler bowling on stumps n on off stumps is Dead sure to succeed. 

 

I m not sure what west indies think tank is doing.

Why is Gabriel bowling way outside off off stump. ..

No. Since vertical speed and horizontal speed are both derived from the overall velocity, one approaches a threshold where high vertical speed is  possible only with high horizontal speed as well.

I think we played Mohanty and Harvinder Singh in that series. 

 

Harvinder was an aggressive pacer with decent pace. Attempted a lot of bouncers.

There is hardly anyway one can measure speed from looking at video's. Gabriel is looking pretty ordinary , but speed guns are showing his bowls in 140s to upto 150 .Yesterday Cummins bowled  ayorker and Gavaskar said this perfect reply , "fast yorker" and when speed gun showed it was barely 126

Bishop  has watched Cummins for a long time in domestic cricket and he was stressing before the match that Cummins is a fast-medium bowler and not a genuine fast guy.  He notched up speeds of 132 k to 142 k most of the times and that is very standard fast-medium pace.

 

Richards, who again knows Gabriel well, had said before the series that he is very quick and can bowl 145 k +.  And that has turned out to be right too.

 

Just look at how some of Gabriel's deliveries are flying to the keeper and smacking their gloves.

What is the point? No swing....No consistency....No setting up the batsman.....No plan.

 

140-145 is not express...it's not like he is a 150+ bowler....infact 140 is perfect pace for these young Indian batsmen

The debate in that particular post  was not about whether Gabriel is a good bowler  (  He is ok but nothing great  and our pacers have bowled better. I have actually pointed it out several times that Gabriel needs to learn to move the ball more consistently. But he has consistency in terms of bowling in good areas and Richards has said that  repeatedly. )

 

The debate was  about whether Gabriel looks as quick as the speed gun shows him to be.

 

He is bowling 140 k to 150 k by the way and not 140 k to 145 k.

 

p.s - How many bowlers have bowled 150 k + in test matches with any consistency ?  Maybe 3 or 4 pacers in the last 45 years  for 2 or 3 years each.
