kruiser Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 actually a blessing in disguise, good test of the bench strength. If all 1st choice players were fit, we might not have seen new (and old) faces manning the ranks. This creates a healthy pool of 16 - 18 players for future series.
Austin 3:!6 Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 I am so worried about Mohammed Shami. A fit Shami is a treat to watch but poor guy is too fragile. I hope his career dont get cut short...easily a bowler in the league of Kapil, Srinath and Zak. PS - Dont care much about Rahane's injury. Its a blessing in disguise. sandeep Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I wouldn't be surprised if Kohli's carrying at least a niggle now - that slide in the outfield put some serious stress on his leg joints. Unacceptably bad outfield by the curators. Surprised to see this at Wankhede - this is not a first time test venue. I hope Kumble chews out the curators and gets things addressed.... express bowling 1

Austin 3:!6 Posted December 15, 2016 Author Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) Amir broke his leg at Gabba on the first day of a test match...sad news. Added to OP and wish his speedy recovery. Also added Anderson...though I doubt his injury. Must be scared after the phainta he got from Kohli and chickened out from final test Edited December 15, 2016 by Austin 3:!6 tweaker 1

tweaker Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 The Indian team continues to be plagued with injury concerns in the ongoing series. After Jayant Yadav pulled his hamstring before the toss, opener Murali Vijay injured his left shoulder while fielding at backward point during the second session, and thus could not open the batting for India.
G_B_ Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 so list of players who have faced injury for India in this series Saha Rahane Shami Rahul (who then came back) Jayant Bhuvi Vijay (potentially) Rohit (long term injury) Its really not good for India. I remember Ishant doing well at Lords and basically limping out of the series in England. If India is to play 4/5 test series you cannot afford these types of injuries. Shami is the biggest worry. He cannot be played in LOI and should be handled with cotton wool. As menioned before his stated official age is not his real age. Is probably 34/35 tweaker and Austin 3:!6 2
tweaker Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Ravichandran Ashwin to miss Ranji Trophy quarter final fixture against Karnataka
Mosher Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) Shami will miss both ODI and T20 series vs England due to his right knee injury. Earlier he had injured his left knee, now its the right knee. This is really worrying. Hope the team management will play him only in important tournaments/tests and rest him in dead rubbers and bilateral ODI/T20 series. Link: http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/84915/mohammed-shami-to-miss-odi-series-against-england-in-2017 I was sort of expecting this. Last time, when Shami injured his left knee, he played through pain as it was the World Cup, and made it much worse. I hope that this time around, Shami has not played much after he felt the right-knee soreness. It is better to recover fully and then come back for the Australia test series. Shami should anyway be rested for bilateral LOIs as you suggested. Left knee injury for a right-handed pacer is more serious as it is the landing leg but this time it is his right knee....hopefully, he will recover after an extended rest. The selectors looking to pick Ishant Sharma is a step backward. He has never been good in LOIs. Why not try out a new quick like Shardul Thakur and get him match ready ? Even better would be Nathu Singh but not sure if he is fully fit. Even Ankit Rajpoot or Pradeep Sangwan would be better. Umesh should be rested after a hectic 5 test match series.
