Cricketics Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 England need to handle him well. One bad tour like Ashes series etc can dent his career and he could be out and dropped for few years after poor run at young age. This happens a lot in England compared to countries like India where we still will always have those players on selectors'Ā radar.Ā tweaker 1
fineleg Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) I wish this 19 yr old is given spanky by Ashwin and Jadeja and Shami in Tests 3, 4 and 5. Enough of India making heroes out of these newbies. Ā Edited November 20, 2016 by fineleg tweaker 1
tweaker Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Hameed has played very well against spinners
SUMO Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 what a talent hameed is !!! Our openersĀ couldn't survive even an iota of spin or seam.Ā What was the last time when we had good opening partnership, both openers crossing 50Ā tweaker 1

Ā Vijay is quality, and law of averages will re-assert itself. Ā Rahul also, deserves a bit of rope. Ā I would still rank Rahul over Hameed, as a prospect, impressive as he has been. Wait till Hameed reaches the same age. Besides, Rahul has allowed the T20 game to influence him in Tests. Across all formats, I'd agree that he can do very well. tweaker 1
Laaloo Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Oh please its too early. He still struggles against any spinner bowling around the wicket and he looked really uncomfortable against short balls. A short ball hit his hand, the other went through and his his chest. It took us 4 innings to bowl a short ball at him. His domestic strike rate is somewhere around 38. I know S/R usually dont matter that much in test cricket, but there will be a time when he will be asked to score a bit faster. Let's see if he adapts to it. Right now he is doing good because we dont seem to bowl accurate short balls at him. sandeep, Cricketics, tweaker and 1 other 4
mishra Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Oh comeon doubters. In fourth inning, he had mental strength to last that long. Kid is good. very good. If he can maintain his current performance for couple of more series, He will be automatically be part of playing 11. Also, England has been looking for for a solid opener to go along with Cook. He fits the bill most among the tried ones since Strauss. tweaker 1
Temujin Khaghan Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Haseeb is set for a 15-17 year career from here on. Potential 12k runs mishra 1
