express bowling Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) I think we are usually over the top with our reactions about ex-players. Whether it is Ganguly or Dhoni...they were our best captains in history and, by and large. wanted to win matches and series for us. We may not agree with their view point but this name calling needs to stop. We can strongly disagree with their view point but that is about it. Every person has an opinion and that may not be the same as ours. That does the make the other person " selfish " Edited November 11, 2016 by express bowling Mosher 1

There have been many other instances too not just this one. Warne-Waugh, Lehmann-Clarke, KP-Prior and others. Issues are there in every team. Indian cricket fraternity is not like Pakistan cricketers bickering with each other on TV channels. Except Bhajji acting like a fool, rest of the ex-cricketers have been dignified. Difference of opinion will always be there, you cannot take that as a sign of lack of unity. Edited November 11, 2016 by Mosher express bowling 1

Ganguly wanted rank turners at home as captain, but now when he is an ex-cricketer and India is doing great he is bemoaning them. What does that stink of, if not selfishness and pettiness. Rohit S. Bigg Brother Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I can relate myself to OP.. You must be irritated and frustrated as myself after watching this pitch after expecting whitewash..But calm down..Bhajji and Ganguly have nothing to do with it..

G_B_ Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 to be fair the only person to be blamed is Niranjan Shah (if this test does not produce a result) If you followed Saurashtra in the ranjis, some of the flattest decks in the country are at rajkot. Doubt Ganguly or Bhajji (emotions aside) are to be blamed for that. Mosher 1

That's a load of BS. When Ganguly was captain and Bhajji was in the side and especially during the latter part of his career, majority of the games in India were played on flat, batting tracks where scores of 500 were the norm. Playing on rank turners will not help anyone. Test cricket is supposed to test your ability. What's the point in preparing doctored pitches and roll the touring side over within 3 or 4 days ? Spinners will just settle into a false sense of accomplishment because the conditions will be loaded in their favor and seamers will never improve as they are mostly relegated to the boundary after the first few overs. When they tour overseas, they will end up falling short because they will not have developed the skills or temperament to do well in conditions which dont suit them. It would be a shame because this side actually has the potential to be world class and a top test side. Not saying we shouldnt prepare pitches to suit us but there has to be a balance and the need is to prepare pitches which suit seamers with decent bounce and lateral movement and also spinners as the pitch deteriorates from day 3 onwards. I Dude...actually you talk utter BS. Turning pitches, where our batters are more comfortable, but the opposition struggles because of lack of good spinners and batsmen that play spin is what is being asked - exactly like in the 2 tests against Kiwis. If it is a rank turner how come our batters scored. This is the " test " for the touring side in " test "cricket. And this is called " home advantage". Just like England tests us on seaming tracks where Anderson and Co make merry, while our inexperienced seamers struggled to bowl line and length on those helpful tracks. You clearly suffer from inferiority complex or just want to make a stupid argument for the sake of it. Edited November 11, 2016 by narenpande1 MCcricket and Rohit S. Ambani 2

What's with all this inferiority complex nonsense ? You are the one who seems insecure and seem to have some other issues. Also read up on what I wrote before you post a reply. I never said not to prepare pitches which suit your abilities but there needs to be a balance. If you prepare pitches which heavily favor your strengths, you will never be tested and improve and become an all round test side. This is what happened in the 90s when we prepared dust bowls and we were invincible at home but basically became a minnow side when we toured overseas. This side has a lot more potential and it would be a shame if the opportunity to become a truly world class side is squandered. Edited November 11, 2016 by kubrickian sandeep and MCcricket 2

I think you should first read and comprehend before posting further utterances. The OP was about the hypocricy in language of ex players particularly Ganguly who spoke in different languages about home pitches ( one as captain, the other as ex cricketers) This cannot be denied as it is on record. Secondly, high profile series at home are meant to win and win at all costs in a thumping fashion..and not hand a belter to an opposition on the mat. England never tests its " all round game " at home. There conditions are made ideal for Anderson to make the ball talk from day 1. And same should have been done for Ashwin. Those whitewashes are on Dhoni alone, Kohli shouldn't give a fcuk about that. yeah.. we got a choice to choose the pitches in austarlia and in england

I think you are really dumb if you recommend pitches at home where fast bowlers are relegated to the boundary after the first few overs and are basically used to take the shine off the new ball because that's what happens on pitches which turn from square one, the likes of which we saw in the series against Aus and SA. Yes, by all means go ahead and prepare these pitches in the future as well but dont come whining when India suffer another humiliating, white wash overseas. But when we lose again in SA, Aus or England all and sundry come from everywhere and write big essays on what should be done and how pitches should be different at home blah blah but everything will be forgotten till we play the next series at home. Its because of this mindset that has kept Indian test cricket back and never allowed it to grow beyond doing well at home. Edited November 11, 2016 by kubrickian

Dude you don't stop making abusive personal remarks and then whine like a sissy when you get it back. Are spinners not relegated to second class bowlers in Eng, Aus and SA ? Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have tracks that strongly favor spin bowlers - this is half the test cricketing world. Who the hell is anybody to decide that " fast bowling" is a superior form of bowling to " spin bowling " ? They are both forms of bowling. Even West Indies now to some extent is spin friendly. You clearly suffer from deep inferiority complex. Dennis Lillee is touted as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time - nobody talks about the fact that he did jack $hit in the subcontinent. But we discredit our own spinners who have one sided records biased towards home pitches. It is only your logic and IQ that can reason that making the opposition comfortable on our own pitches is the solution to improving our own overseas performance. Half stayed back in post partition India, which meant the notion of Pakistan failed then and there. Half of what was left then broke of in 1971. how many more of such fragmentations would be necessary to realize that Pakistan was and is not a nation. will check with my Baluch friends and get back to you on this :) sscomp32, Bigg Brother and Rohit S.
