Ganguly and Harbhajan is reason why Brits ruled us -

Harbhajan is a known jealous tw@t, can't handle the fact that Ashwin will surpass him by leaps and bounds at the end of his career.

He starts bemoaning the nature of the pitches and asks for more challenging tracks for spinners to bring out their "mettle ".

Ganguly too is jealous that in terms of sheer results - his legacy has been squashed by Dhoni.

Kohli would trounce it even more in terms of results and as 3 times the player Ganguly ever was.

It is a disgusting shame that these guys talk against the interest of the team out of sheer jealousy - talk about having tracks that don't start taking spin till day 3.

England trounced in Bangladesh on typical sub continental turners were on the mat, they were expecting highly spin friendly pitches, and it was our chance to avenge our whitewash in England.

And now we allow ENgland to get back their confidence and morale by preparing a belter for them to settle down.

Ganguly - you are a pathetic  jealous hypocrite draaamebaaz. He should remember the time in 2005 where he declared himself unfit for Nagpur test match

when he did not get the pitch he wanted against Australia and had a tussle with Shashank Manohar.

This is the the reason why Brits ruled us. We are NEVER EVER united.

Jealous buddies in arms.

Harbhajan shows his true colors, and say what you want.

Can anybody on ICF deny Ganguly's fake injury after the fight for a turning pitch against Aus in Nagpur in 2005 ???

Ganguly is actually a third rate hypocrite.

First of all, it was a seaming pitch, not turning.  And cherry-picking a guy's 15 year record to find faults is churlish.  I'm not defending Gangu's choices in Nagpur, but you really need to chillax a bit.

I agree with your points but definitely not the language. This is not the way to express yourself even though people have said more disgusting things for Dhoni I don't agree with the language.

Also definitely agree with last line.

Indian cricket fraternity is never united. We are busy in mudslinging and taunting others. I very rarely see this from Aus/Eng.

Sandeep - is there a need to be united and support a team that was on the roll or start talking about giving " fair " pitches when the

opposition is on the mat ??

Did Ganguly behave this way when he was captain ?

I think Ganguly is within his rights to voice that opinion.  Do I agree with it.  Not really.  But let's not demand this unconditional "unity" crap.  Thats just unrealistic.

And @sscomp32have you seen the crap that most aussie cricketers write in their "memoirs" after retirement.  Not united much.  So lets just calm down and not over-react.

Besides, the pitches for NZ and England have been really good, nobody can criticize them, and haven't.   Its a 5 test series, I'm sure we'll see a couple of good turners in due course.

This notion that India under Ganguly won overseas consistently is utterly ridiculous. Ganguly acts as if he was Steve Waugh  whose teams won everywhere except India. India had tough time to beating even weak teams  like WI, England  or Aussies without Warne and Mcgrath.

Indian team under Kohli have been very competitive and looked to win every match no matter where they played the match home or away.No Mr Ganguly matches against Aussies were not played on minefields, except Delhi every match was played on good pitches.Nothing wrong in giving advantage to home spinners when playing at home.

Issues are there with every team. Remember the feud between Clarke, Watson and Katich. Clarke called Shane Watson a "tumour". http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/shane-watson-was-like-a-tumour-on-australian-team-says-michael-clarke-20161016-gs3hed.html

Exactly.

Ganguly is a Class A hypocrite. He talked one language related to the home pitches when he was captain.

Now that Virat is doing wonders, he talks another language for the home pitches.

This is nothing but jealousy and shallowness

Probably don't agree with the harsh words, but agree partially with OP. Ganguly and Harbhajan should just shut their traps and watch the matches. When they were playing they vehemently demanded spinning pitches and now that their playing days are over, they are just trying belittle the current team's accomplishments.

But what I don't agree with is that it has anything to do with the Rajkot pitch. I don't think the groundsman was influenced by what Ganguly and Harbhajan were saying. I think he just prepared a "safe" pitch to ensure that the match goes the full length especially considering this is Rajkot's first Test.

+1. Most logical reason. he wanted play all 5 days .

It pains me immensely to see there are ex-players within our midst, who are clearly not well wishers of the team.

They just give more substance to the one sidedly biased media in UK and Aus.

Are Aus or Eng ex players ever apologetic about their pitches favoring the home team ?

Sri Lanka recently whitewashed Oz 3-0 on home rank turners where Herath put up as good or better performances than Ashwin has at his best.

Did any ex-Lankan player talk about the pitches then ? Did the Aus media criticize the pitches then  ? NO and NO.

Did anybody critize pitches in Bangladesh where Eng recently got humiliated ?

Why does India have to be the only country that is criticized for preparing favorable home pitches ? As if we are doing something immoral or unethical.

I had little bit of respect for Ganguly when he was a player. But he has shown himself to be a petty hypocrite post retirement.

We are essentially a 1 sport country, whether or not we acknowledge it.

If even in that sport we don't entirely dominate and whitewash opponents on our home turf and do whatever it takes to do it,  with all our resources and money in the sport. We should be very sorry about our state.

I am starting to like this pitch more day by day as I really enjoyed our batting today. 1 such pitch per series is not such a bad idea. 2 turners, 2 green tops and a belter should be our choices for this 5-match Test series. Those whitewashes are on Dhoni alone, Kohli shouldn't give a fcuk about that.
