Still with 3 genuine spinners,2 seamers and better equipped with bat.I think it's gonna be

a turner so don't expect a lot from the seamers. This according to me is a well balanced side

with all bases covered.

why would you replace Umesh with hardik dude.

I hope selectors think logically for a change and bring in Rahul even though he is not in the squad. I cannot stand watching Gambhir poking his bat around with his open stance. I would play with

Batting looks a bit thin with only 5 proper batsmen but rather than have a debutant like Nair in the side who will be under pressure, Gambhir should be given one more opportunity. He is also a good player of spin. KL Rahul could be selected and could come in at No.6.

Agree with everything but Bhuvi will finish his 4 day game against Mumbai, a day before the start of the 2nd test. Not wise to call him for this test as it will be too tiring for him to last for 5 days of test cricket after four hard fought days in Ranji. Should be picked for third test though.

We need to make our spinners potent. Shave off all the grass on the pitch. Batsmen don't matter. Gambhir to be replaced by KL Rahul who is batting fine v/s Rajasthan - two fifties in the Ranji Match.

Other then Gambhir, pretty much all our batsmen scored runs in this game either in first or second innings. I will play the same team and back them to do well.  I do not want to throw and trash our bowlers like it used to happen after one ordinary game from a player. I feel Mishra can be a good bowler who was not utilised well under Dhoni. Give him some time under Kohli, he will have lot success.

No but you got to see the circumstances. This is not ODI and people playing in the team can't be dropped right now. Why would I drop Mishra after giving him a chance after such a long time in a test where even Ashwin had hard time doing well.

Mishra maybe dropped because , on a rank turner, 3 spinners are not required.  Innings are usually on the shorter side and Ashwin and Jaddu are more than enough on such pitches.

 

An added batsman can come in handy in such a situation, where 30 extra runs may mean a lot.

 

I would prefer someone like Pandya who can score some quick runs. Our batting line-up needs a counter-attacking batsman at No.6  as almost all our batters, in the absence of Rahul, take a lot of time to build their innings and we need variety in our batting line-up to add momentum and counter-attack.

Mishra ain't bad bat. He can add lots of runs. Not as consistent as Ashwin, but Mishra has scored lot of runs with the bat in the past. I think this is the time to back Mishra since he has bowled really well in the last one month and still has lot of confidence.

Dropping him will be wrong I feel. Playing him will do world of good for him and I guarantee you, he will outbowl plenty of bowlers. He got some really good wrong-uns and he can be really great option. 

 

I get what you are trying to say about spin friendly pitch. But this English team have worked hard on negotiating Ashwin and have perhaps watched a lot of his videos. This is where someone like Mishra can be a great option as the English players might avoid hitting Ashwin, they will most likely attack Mishra. And when a batsman is attacking, Mishra is perhaps the best bowler in the country.

If we have to select from the same squad, I would pick Pujara to open with Vijay and play Nair at 3.
