Between KKD and Pappu - isn't KKD better as a keeper (purely as a keeper, lesser chance of dropping catches/stumpings )?

Keeping - oscillates between 4 and 9. I'm gonna go with 7 on the whole.

Batting - around 5 to 6.

He isn't as bad as a 5.0 but it was just that he is a quite person and didn't get into the limelight. Apart from the first test against Eng...I don't think he had any other horror match. Maybe a 7.0 or even 7.5.

His batting failed to make impression despite few brilliant innings.

Keeping would be 8 for me. He is generally a safe keeper with the odd off match like in Rajkot which can happen to anyone.

overall 6/10 ? worse than Dhoni maybe better than karthik in catching but similar in stumping.

Keeper - 8/10 (with Boucher/Healy being 10 and someone like Kamran Akmal being a 1). Barring the last two tests, he has been exceptional most of the times that I have seen him keep. I think only keepers who can fly through the air and catch fast travelling balls and are safe while keeping to quality spinners can be classified as 9 or 10. Saha will be just behind such keepers - Safe but not supremely athletic.

 

Batsman - Tricky one. Didn't think much of him as a batsman in Tests (even though he had 9 hundreds in FC) till 2015. Had an average of 21.58 in this period. But he has been a revelation with the bat in 2016. Played some very important innings late down the order. Averages 40.66 in 2016 and only Bairstow and de Kock average more (below). So, will have to split his batting rating into pre-2016 and this year.

Yes, Saha does not get the credit for some of the knocks he played recently to bail is out. I would like to see him back in the team after injury. Also, he is batting late after Ashwin(a correct move by Kohli), and it is hard to score runs there but he has played more than decently. His keeping albeit a little chaotic in this series, has been generally good. Even the best of keepers like Gilchrist dropped a lot of catches and Saha is just another keeper who for his worth has done better than he was expected to.

I think that the team management will rightly persist with him after he returns.

Would be sad if he looses his place to a guy like Patel who had no future in the test team.
