CG Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Great range of strokes this guy has. MechEng and tweaker 2
FischerTal Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 The reverse sweep has to be the best in world cricket. Atleast on par with maxwell tweaker and WC2011INDIA 2
diga Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Well played for 300 but I would have been happier if he had scored a matchwinning 50 on a minefield express bowling and tweaker 2
Malcolm Merlyn Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 He has a great range of strokes.Lets not go overboard though.I am particularly happy that he sweeps,a rarity among Indian batters. WC2011INDIA and tweaker 2
Mosher Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Didn't watch Karun's full innings. How does he play the short ball? tweaker 1

He was dropped twice - cook and root both catchable. He is not solid when he reaches for the offside ball, when he could have left it alone. Defense is good, though. In other words. not likely to succeed outside SC. Edited December 19, 2016 by coffee_rules gakgupta, tweaker, Mosher and 1 other 4

rkt.india Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 He is another all formats player like Kohli and Rahul, might not be as good in T20s.
Unleashed Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 He looks like the best player of spin in this lineup. Certainly the best user of the sweep shirt I've ever seen in an Indian shirt.

He kept his eyes on the ball while playing the short ball He left the bouncers on the off-stump and middle-stump quite well when he was trying to build his innings till 100. Occasionally, he did hold up his bat like a periscope while doing so and one ball hit is bat and almost went to slip...but that was at a stage when he was trying to score quickly. Was not shy about coming decisively forward after a short ball. Does not have any significant back and across movement while playing seamers and this may cause some issues while playing on quicker or bouncier tracks. Plays a very good cut shot and a good " upar-cut " too. Does play the pull shot but, in this innings atleast, it was more a guided or placed-in-the-gap pull rather than a compulsive full-blooded pull. Quite smart I would say. Probably has an issue while playing the three-quarter length rising delivery just outside off-stump and gave 2 catches to the slips off that delivery. But, he can rectify this issue by just leaving those deliveries. Edited December 19, 2016 by express bowling sourab10forever, tweaker, kubrickian and 1 other 4

I think he has potential to up his game because he has the hunger in him to do so. Has a range of strokes which is good. Him and KL opeNing in the shorter formats would be epic.
express bowling Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 He the played the pitched up deliveries just outside off-stump quite well. There was not much movement to test this aspect fully but he left most such deliveries and this is a good thing.
