I only watched highlights but Nair did same

Kohli was worst

Nair was actually looking good uptil that over. First ball zipped past his bat and that was playing on his mind when he stepped out.

The team management goes by past record

Which is why I have no sympathy for them, when the whole bcci is being hounded by lodha panel.

Backs are against the wall and he shines, again. Not going anywhere.

We had our backs against the wall due to him only in the first place

It is not about the runs, rahane could score a double tomorrow but he still can't play spin

Hes not the best but how do you score tons if you cant play spin

Its like Kohli cant play swing even if he scores overseas.Thats a clearer thing actually

big test for our lower order....as much as I want these 2 to carry on followed by Nair.....every run scored by Ashwin,Saha etc or even Ishant,Umesh in this situation is one step closer to victory...big test for Nair too...big occasion and pressure situation.

Because clearly the pitch isn't as tough to bat as it was on first day or at least the spin bowling is not of the same level, rahane looks absolutely clueless when the ball is turning square, have you not watched rahane bat against spin since the beginning of his career? Just  go to his cricinfo page and check the scorecard of matches he has played in India

Averages 40 with his best in India

Not too great but not that bad either

Sure he cant play on rank turners, very few can.Overall hes still amongst our best along with Kohli and Pujara

Again blinding parroting the average (even that is not good). That's why I asked you to check the scorecards of matches where he scored runs, those were easier conditions to bat, haven't seen a top order batsman who is as clueless against spin as rahane

Its not that Nair got a duck or a golden duck.  Batsmen will get out.  And look bad doing so.  Its not the end of the world.  But what Mr 300 did there exhibited very poor temperament and shoddy thinking.  Foolish airy drive first ball against the new ball?  Especially when the wicket of a set batsman has shown the danger that swing poses?  In a game situation where absolutely every run counts?  I wouldn't forgive that from even the likes of Jadeja or Ashwin, let alone a specialist batsman.  Poor game awareness.

Learn from it.  Or GTFO.  Could have easily been the moment that cost us this test match and this series if the aussies had been able to pull off the chase.
