How are players like Pathan, bhajji, gambhir , tiwary who are past their expiry dates and have no future being selected in format like t20 where many youngsters can be drafted

This is what happens when you youplay  zonal and come up with zonal squads. Poor guys, some of them who got missed out. Leave it to selectors of the zonal teams to mess up every time.

Had they followed last year's format, things won't have been like this where deserving players are left out.

Games will still be competitive but some deserving players will be watching on TV.

State level games are low in terms of opposition strength and competition

Zonal teams are stronger and performances in such games carry more meaning.  They help the development process of players much more too.

Dont think any deserving player is left out in this squad.

Nathu Singh not getting  a chance in his zonal T20 team  despite taking 22 wickets from 14 matches at an average of 14 in this format

Not getting sufficient chances for his state team this season, even in T20s

Out of his IPL team without playing a match

Not getting into any of the  4 different A teams ( 2 for one day matches )   and 1 ROI team in the last 3 months

He seems to be totally out of favour for some unknown reason

He was bowling really well in the Deodhar Trophy 5 months back.

Really sad to see a genuine fast bowler with skills going this way unless he is carrying some niggling injury and hence these steps.

Maybe he's just not that good yet.  If he was, why would IPL teams leave him out after signing him up?  You can argue politics in FC and Zonal level, not in IPL...

He was in MI last year. No vacancy in playing 11. He is just as much not good or bad as others in contention.

MI bought him for 2.x crores after seeing his performance last year in SMA Trophy last year, when he took  14 wickets from 6 matches at an average of  9.  Would not have played that sort of money if they were not impressed.

He did not get a game perhaps because  MI had too many pacers.

Just check out his List A and T20 stats and they are very good.... and he has looked quite skillful whenever I have seen him bowl.

Mumbai have a history of paying a lot of bench-riders a lot of money.  And not playing a lot of future IPL stars while on the roster.

Brain trust of Mumbai Indians last year  included Anil Kumble our current coach -the very fact he didn't get a shot doesn't bode too much for Nathu.

Also Ponting didn't seem to try him at all either.

Wonder what the problem is...do these guys not rate him? that is a pretty high pedigree of cricketers

This is pace bowling reserve for MI:

Bumrah,Malinga,McClenaghan,Tim Southee,Vinay Kumar(legund),Hardik Pandya.

He would obviously never make it playing eleven nor is of any value even retaining.Hence they released him.

Read an interview of Ponting during the last IPL  where he singled out Nathu Singh among the rookies for praise and talked about his yorkers and pace.
