tweaker Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Hard hitting Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been named the captain of the Kings XI Punjab.
flat_wicket_bully Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 We and our desire for Australian to be a captain is way too much tbh Gollum 1
kira Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 LMAO WTF, punjab team management has to be THE MOST BRAINLESS management in the history of every organization in the world, first miller, now maxwell they never learn, they deserve to be at the bottom of the table in every season mancalledsting, India-KXIP fan, Forever Indian and 1 other 3 1
BCCI Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I thought Vijay did well in the later part of last season. Gollum and Ankit_sharma03 2
Gollum Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 What is with the IPL owners and their constant ass licking of the goras? What wrong did Vijay do last season? And what are Maxwell's credentials as captain at any level? express bowling, Ironhide and Ankit_sharma03 3
sensible-indian Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) Doesn't matter anyway. Punjab never wins anything. They were damn scary one season (could have won it) when Maxy and Miller were in great form at the same time. Edited March 10, 2017 by sensible-indian rkt.india and India-KXIP fan 1 1

He doesn't have game for t20s. He was a terrific T20 player for CSK, instrumental in their title triumphs. He still has 2 innings out of top 10 IPL innings till now, even Kohli hasn't played those kind of knocks. Last season too he was decent. He is not as great as before in this format mainly because of his change in mindset and technique to adapt to test cricket. I fail to see how he can't be a permanent member in any team when there are 8 teams and min 7 Indian players in each of them. Why can't he earn some $$$ ? Maxwell's overall legacy in IPL isn't nearly as good as Vijay's plus he has never captained even a state side before. This move by Punjab management is a slap to Indian cricket. It basically says 'No matter how good you are we will always keep you 1 pedestal below any gora, even if that gora is a mug'. Last season that clown Miller lead them to doom, King Vijay brought a semblance of respect to them in the end. And now they are back to square one.
OpeningBatsman Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 No Indians worth captaining the side? express bowling 1

Shane warne, Gilchrist, David Warner won IPL trophy captaining an underdog or fair teams and even the only season where Kings x11 came close to winning trophy was when George Bailey was captaining. Tell me why wouldn't franchises prefer Aussies as captain.

Everyone made fun of David Warner when he was made captain and he took his team to a trophy win in the second year itself. Same was said then. Why a ' 'Gora' and that too a 'dud'.

mancalledsting Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 It's a gamble but there is some rationale behind it. he has creativity and giving him responsibility may make his batting more consistent. He is a natural leader and has strong tactical opinions. He would often run to George bailey and give suggestions which largely appeared to be ignored. sandeep 1

ALso, not sure about Maxwell's captaincy credentials..has he captained any side before?? Not sure. So correct me if I am wrong

I don't think any Indian is worth captaining in kings Punjab.Maxwell is a gamble and he is active on the field and does come across as someone who have leadership skills. But I doubt commitment of all Australians to IPL unlike West Indians. philcric Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Risky decision. Mainly because Maxwell has a very poor record in IPL in India. All his best performances in IPL came during the games held in UAE. If he runs into poor form again, he'd become a huge liability being a foreign player and a captain.
zakk Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 good decision and he will do well this time OpeningBatsman 1
