I'm curious to know who England will play their 'prep' test series with.  They usually have a marquee series with an opponent in the late summer, preceded by a short series with a 'weaker' opponent.   I guess its been a while since Bangladesh has toured England?   That would make the most sense from a preparation standpoint.

Btw, I'm no fan of the ECB, but props to them for how they always have their scheduling act together.   Test series, specific dates and venues for games are decided and announced well in advance, so fans can plan ahead of time.   Indian board should really learn from this.

Decent, passable jibe

Jibe? Against whom?    Go check their home schedules for the past few years, and you will know what I'm talking about.

BCCI should send an 'A' team to England in the early part of 2018 summer.   Our A team has recently been to Aus and SA already.  It makes sense to have them sent to England next.  That may give an opportunity for the test specialists of the regular squad to play extra warm-up games ahead of the actual tour.   Gone are the days where you could expect a visiting team to play 2-3 long form warm-up games.

So Pakistan are slotted in for the Early tests.  Meanwhile, its going to be 8 years since Toygers got invited by the Empire's Cricket Board.   So what if BD deserted India and supported Giles Clarke in the recent ICC kerfluffle.  Toygers got used and now kicked to the curb.  The quid pro quo for BD not looking so good so far, you think BCB will live to regret its change of sides at the ICC?  @Kriterion

Would have been awesome if we played 2 tri series (ODI,T20) between the big 3 instead of england playing separately with both of them.

It would certainly gain more interest from the fans, and probably more revenue, but ECB would be afraid to risk a scenario where they would come 3rd in a 3 horse race!  No-one does chest-beating like the English sports press - they would have a field day in bemoaning the state of English LOI cricket, months before hosting the World Cup.

Tour is a bit long and I won't be surprised if the team looks insipid towards the end of the tour. Somehow our team can't keep their spirits up towards the fag end of the tour. BCCI should do some proactive planning here, probably have an excurison or so planned after the 3rd Test so that the players get a break.

Also, I am interested in knowing what (if any) warm-up games are planned for this tour. Getting into Test match mode without a decent FC opponent played will be tough. It is good though that we are playing ODIs and T20s before the Tests, but need entire Test squad warmed up. We should try to find some county spots if possible for some of our Test players if our schedule permits.

BCCI should learn this kinda planning from ECB.

Who cares.   Accountability doesn't exist.  Do you think major media outlets would dare criticize BCCI for its inept scheduling?  Cost-benefit would not work in their favor.   IIRC a few years ago, Cricinfo reporters were denied press credentials for a couple of seasons during India home series.

Oh yes. Didn't look at this angle . English media is at their hilarious best when England loses.

Of course there will be practice games. Especially since August-sept is also the month of county. WI on this current tour have played/will play a total of 4 practice games for a 2 match series
