What is an “allrounder” every allrounder is either a batting or a bowling allrounder.

The one’s you can’t tell are called bits and pieces

M talking about the role

Bowl 10 overs most day

Float in batting order

Increase run rate

Fielding

Thats quite a lit of work , those bits n pieces adds a lot to the team

Ok say bits n pices but why to compare even a bits n pieces to a specialist

No Moroniac - you did that when you started this thread.

You keep surprising me with your stupidity.

Bhuvi ever time I have seen him bat looks assured and as a bowler it is a no brainer who is better...that is the mark of an allrounder...don’t give Maharashtra board education  a bad name

But why are bhuvi and Pandya compared? Remember bhuvi was not so good for most part of his career untill recently. Panda is getting a long rope even if someone likes it or not. However would like to have backup in V Shankar as well.

If we have 5 solid bats+ Solid keeper bat it would make more sense to bring someone like Shami in and have Bhuvi as the 3rd seamer.....Bhuvi is solid enough to hold one end up in a collapse...in fact more dependable than pandya in such situations...getting quick runs at the death is a lottery anyways.

Bowling it is a no brainer.

Pandya not showing up either as a bat or a bowler is hurting our balance more than helping it.

Dude are you seriously comparing Pandya and Bhuvi the bowlers based on this game?

When someone does well you expect them to kick on, not regress.

Pandyas knock in the first test was quality but the follow up to that was not only a letdown but a disaster.

He is ok for odis though because at this stage he is bits and pieces at best.

Are you seriously criticizing a young all rounder who didn’t got much chances yet. If you drop players after just few matches Rohit Sharma , Ishant Sharma would have been dropped 100 Times. These are the kauravas of Indian team. Man modi speech in parliament reminded me of above quote.

90s cricket fans don't understand the importance of batting depth and want to play ODI cricket in 2018 with 5 full-time bowlers.   In a team that's already carrying a Dhoni who's fading fast with the bat.  That's moroniacal for you.

I am actually a proponent of 6 batsmen+Keeper+4 bowlers with 2 solid batsmen being decent parttimers.

if we get 5 solid bowlers with 1 or 2 being decent lower order hitters that is a luxury.

sorry but Pandya has not shown anything to prove he is a dependable bat or a bowler.

this is the reasoning given across the border for Afridi to play 300+ Odis.

Though I still have doubts whether Bhuvi will have long ODI career.

However I dont get how is Pandya rated so high by so many knowledgeable posters here.

Unlike any decent all rounder he lacks a strong suit which can guarantee him a place in the XI.

He lacks techique, temperament and game awareness so he cant be a reliable bat and more often than not struggles to bowl his quota of overs.

I guess its all hunky dory now when we are winning but he will become the lowest hanging fruit when the team faces some heat.

To be clear in this team I am ok with Pandya as the top 3 have carried the workload and 2 spinners+ Bumrah setting up wins....he is an “experiment” worth pursuing but not exactly shown to be a solution

Yeh lo karlo baat. Dude stick to what you say.  Don’t change the train. Abhi toh gaaliya khaani padengi.

Kabhi kuch bola and than kabhi kuch.

I said Bhuvi is more of an allrounder than Pandya ...where did I say he needs to be dropped tommorow? Comprehension issues?

You do realize you are contradicting yourself?   If you are so quick to pounce on Pandya, why don't you judge Jadhav for a bit?  Which one of those 2 had a better game?  Which one deserves a longer rope?  These are the 2 guys in the XI who are vying for those "batters who can bowl" spots.   And Pandya is deservedly a pick ahead of Jadhav - in all 3 disciplines of the game.

guys-

pandya is a very good batsman with very high potential..what i mean with high potential..his capability to hit Sixes at will.

please dont compare the capability as batsman in ODI..one guy is a very high potential aggressive batsman, in odi pandya is way better.

but in tests pandya is average as a batsman where as bhuvi has a better defence but still i would like to consider pandya as a genuine all rounder.

his bowling is also improving and one has to give some more time to pandya to improve. i just hope he continues to improve.

I can agree with you on the Jadhav part

Why are you surprised?  He's the biggest Lota around.   Or as my gujju relatives would call it "Bina G.aand  Ka Lota" - keeps rolling over in any direction at the slightest push.

And the universal word in any language the term for you would be “the village idiot”- any person  with the basic lack of comprehension skills
