Let  us take a detailed look at the life and career of Jayant Yadav:

Born on 22 January, 1990 in Delhi, Yadav is primarily an right-arm off-spinner who is a handy batsman down the order. Yadav's appearances so far in his career have been for Haryana (First-Class, List-A, Twenty20) and Delhi Daredevils (Indian Premier League).

X-Factor: Given the fact that lower-order runs tend to be crucial on Indian surfaces, Yadav's ability to get quick runs with the bat would help give the Indians .

First-class record: Yadav made a memorable debut for Haryana in the 2011 season, picking up six wickets on debut against Gujarat. In the following year, he proved his handiness lower down the order with the bat, scoring 211 at No 9 and sharing a 392-run stand with Amit Mishra.

Yadav went on to enjoy a purple patch in the 2014-15 Ranji season, where he picked 33 wickets at 17.66. Among his other memorable moments were slamming his second ton for Haryana, and sharing a 206-run stand with Virender Sehwag in the following Ranji season, as well as a four-wicket haul against the visiting England side in in 2012-13. The offie dismissed leading England batsman and Test skipper Alastair Cook in that match.

Indian Premier League (IPL): Yadav's exploits in domestic cricket earned him a contract with Delhi Daredevils ahead of the 2014 season for a sum of Rs 10 lakh. However, it was only in the next season that he got to finally don the jersey on the field, making his league debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad, in which he took the wicket of Eoin Morgan.

Recent record: Yadav earned a call-up into the India squad for the limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe in June this year, ahead of which he said that "he would never bowl a doosra". However, he wasn't picked for any of the matches on the tour. He was also effective in India A's tour of Australia for an unofficial Test series, where he picked seven wickets at 22.5.

I think this guy is a good utility player to have in the Indian side.

Can bat IMO and chip in with 20s and 30s on a regular basis. Has way more control than Mishra.

In an ideal world we would have a leggie who can bat. But IMO he is not a bad option. Seems to have a good head on him.
