TNAmarkFrmIndia
Rising Pune Supergiant owner Sanjiv Goenka has not rejected the chances of him buying a team next year completely. When asked about whether he will participate in next year’s bidding process or not, he said “Maybe”. Goenka further said that corporate should get in sports in an even larger way. He was of the opinion that “Time has come for corporates to get involved in a larger way in sport. It’s quite apart from the mileage, it’s a responsibility to help younger people, build academies, this is very important.” Goenka is also the owner of ISL franchise Atletico de Kolkata, and his team in IPL is in a really good position this year. Regarding sharing experiences with the legends of the game like MS Dhoni, he said “Honestly, it’s about dealing with great minds, personalities, understanding leadership strategies. Interacting with Dhoni, Smith, Faf, it’s been an eye-opener”. With Pune’s superb performance in this year’s IPL, we might get to see Sanjiv Goenka as the owner of a franchise next year too. BeautifulGame
How can he bid for a team when there will be no bidding process lol Unless he buys an existing team and relocated to Pune (Most likely Punjab or Rajasthan) ,he has no chance of owning another team. Cricketics
Pune has been picked twice and now this will be the 2nd time they will be leaving IPL, earlier being Sahara Pune Warriros. The fan base has been built, they are better off giving them and Gujarat a chance to stay. They can still keep it to 14 games per team, just that not every team gets to play each opposition twice. Add more double-headers on probably thursdays. Lord

Then how were you wanting extended IPL? Anyways there are some double headers on Mondays or in the middle of the week, so don't know why they can do for few more weeks. There are very rarely double headers in weekdays .They mostly happen only when it's a local holiday. Double headers in weekdays ruins the experience completely. Not really one game here or there isn't big deal. Or have 9 games per team, playing each team once, then playoffs and then best of 3 finals. Will come about to be same number of games. Point is 10 teams can be accomodated

Point is 10 teams can be accomodated Yes it is .Because the increase will be substantial.Thats without considering the toll on players with increased travel time ,viewership suffering on weekdays and the heat . As I earlier said that kills the concept of league format.Gives unfair advantage to teams unnecessarily. Only way they can be accommodated is if IPL season extends and we reduce the international matches.I don't mind that but 10 team tournament in 6-7 weeks is not possible.Thats why IPL GC is against it as well. CG
BCCI should extend Ipl to 10 teams.Play double headers on Friday and Tuesdays. Cricketics
beetle
I would rather have some week day double headers than less matches. Travel fatigue can be reduced by better planning . Cricketics
