Stop blaming our batsmen ,it's our bowlers who have lost ir

I couldn't agree more with @BeautifulGame. It seemed we were content to simply step back and let SL make mistakes. When they didn't we had no Plan B. Throughout the middle overs we had likes of Pandya, Jaddu, Jadhav and even Kohli bowling. Why not Umesh? Why don't bowl him to try get a wkt or two? It wasn't a guarantee he would get the wkts but his role in the team is to be a wkt taker so why not use him in that capacity?

What exactly were Umesh's overs saved for the end? He sure isn't a death bowler and we already have Bhvi and Bumrah for death bowling. IMO we didn't even try to pick up wkts in the middle overs and the decision not to bowl Umesh in the middle overs and save him for the death was as perplexing as they come.

Kohli has hinted that there is a possibility of playing 2 spinners depending on the opposition. Pandya wont be dropped as his lower order hitting is very much required for those extra 20-30 runs. So likely change would be Ashwin in for Umesh against SA. If we go in with 4 pacers then Shami will be in for Umesh provided he is fit.

When your 5th bowler is Pandya you are screwed.if your frontline. Bowlers dont take wickets then it's all over.

All top ODI teams have poor 5th bowlers.  Look at Aus, England or SA.   Australia's Travis Head/Glenn Maxwell combo is worse than Kedar Jadhav.  So is Moises Henriques.   South Africa depend on Duminy and Parnell.   Pandya's not the problem.  But you have your agenda and you will keep harping on it.  This is what I posted after the game and it simply holds true - for Dhoni bashers, Pandya bashers, Umesh lovers, Bhuvi haters, Shami lovers - all of them.

Arrogance.   They assumed that a sub-optimal total was enough to beat the other team.   Refusal to recognize the fact that in today's ODI cricket 300 is the new 250.

Scoreboard pressure and the lack of it is the real story of this game.  Nothing else.  Posters with pre-conceived notions and agendas will bash Yadav or Pandya, or Jadeja or Dhoni.

But given that the captain went on record saying he had enough on the board, that just says it all.

Contrast this with Eoin Morgan clearly saying after the England-NZ game - that they knew they were about 20 runs below par with 320 on the board.

One of the 2 captains is right, the other one stubbornly refuses to accept reality.

no escaping point that Jadeja,Yadav were poor, and Dhoni/Rohit could have accelerated more.

350 would have made it very tight for SL they would have attacked the part timers.

They were toying with our bowlers and smacking them around at will. Tons of wickets in hand too. They would've chased down 350 comfortably.

320 on this wicket is defendable .At worst it is par on that wicket

That was the highest score in the tournament so far.

Apart from Bangladesh every other team have defended 300 scores successfully so far this tournament .

The same Srilanka couldn't chase against SA .Nor could Newzealand against England

Our problem is our bowlers can't wickets if the pitch is flat or in the middle overs .Every other team has bowlers who take wickets in such wickets .This isn't a new issue ,this has been a long simmering issue for India . Inability to take wickets in the middle overs.

Our bowlers took one wkt yesterday .One wicket .They would have chased down even 350 with ease.

Stop blaming the batsman .It's bowlers who lost it.

320 was defendable before 2015

In reality fans n even our team is living in 2013CT....this is 2017

On flat placid batting wkt u need to give bowlers extra cushion ......

Yes bowlers didnt do well but on suitable condition its batsman job n vice versa same for bowlers on seaming wkt

even look at the Dot balls diff.....we played 20 more dot balls then them

Lets see, we have shank and Ashwin on the bench.you don't think they are better bowlers than Pandya?. We deserve to lose if we play the same team against the saffers.

Ashwin can't do sh!t if Jadeja can't nowadays. But still if you want to bring Ashwin then he should replace Jaddu. Either of Jadeja or Ashwin plays but not both. Shami can replace Umesh.

Against saffers I would play both spinners

They are better than Yadav that's for sure.

And Pandya is playing at #7, not as a front-line bowler.

That's a given I think.

After Kiwi bowlers performance in Bangla match, it gives perspective on our bowlers. They are not great but  not bad either. When you have big outfield and pitch is flat and batters are willing to play sensibly (without any risks) then even 300+ runs are achievable..

Indian bowling is not bad. Let me go on the limb and say it is the best. Both spinners need to play. Pandya sits out. UV out Dinesh in as a minimum. That would be a win.
